Angry Well that didn't take long....

Parked my 6 day old Rx8 at a party last night. I've had people all week jokingly saying to me "hey dude who's crashed Rx8 is that out back?" where ever I go....it happens whenever someone gets a new car. Well my friend who hadn't seen the car was doing that to me last night when he showed up to the party, and I just brushed it off like it was another joke. Then my girlfriend came to find me (party was at her parents place, I was staying over so parked in one of the parking bays in the driveway,) and she says to me that someone really DID hit my car.

So basically some **** tard backed into it, left corner of the rear bumper is fucked, quarter panel probably damaged, tail light has a piece missing out of it which means they KNEW they hit it, got out and checked, and took off with any debris that was on the ground.

Weak.

And kinda wierd - wouldn't it have to be a party guest who hit it?

Yeah my girlfriend and her sister who were the hosts think they may know of two possibilities......we're pretty sure it was a truck 'cause one of my friends recalls seeing a truck parked in the driveway, and since they hit the tail light I'm thinking it must have been something higher off the ground.

My deductible is only $300, but I'm ******* tired of having to take time out of my day to deal with this ****. And to top it off someone walked off with my cell phone too.....or it's currently "miss-placed" as the girlfriend likes to call it.

It was a Halloween party. I called my phone this morning and it rang and rang and rang, called it a few more times and someone was pressing "end" 'cause it wasn't ringing as much, which means someone definitely has it.

Hit and run, isn't that under vandalism? There shouldn't be a deductible on that.

On the phone, look up the calls that are being called, and find out who has it.

Unfortunately in our lovely province the insurance is government run and any hit and run claims you have to pay your deductible. It's not the first time one of my vehicles has been hit

Is $300 dect. the norm? Or can you get that lower?
I just had my front corner backed into, and it was $2000 to fix. But the guy that hit me was man enough to come find me and call the cops.

$300 is the lowest....you can get cheaper premiums by upping your deductibles to $500, $1000 or $2500.

$1800.....I'm only 21 so I'm a 25% discount (goes to 43% the longer you drive crash free).

If someone owns up to it then I won't have to pay anything, it'll be covered under their insurance. But people don't own up 'cause they'd lose their discount and their premiums will go up.

I pay $550 a year with a $100 dect. But I am a old fart, so my rates are low.

What did the police say, any leads? Good luck..............

Holy crap! Buy the guy a beer! It seems like "doing the right thing" is very infrequent these days.

He kept on apologizing, over and over. I couldn't get mad because of the way he acted.

actually, at least in texas, it's not a "hit and run." hit and run requires that both cars are occupied at the time of the accident. hitting a parked car with no one in it is not a "hit and run," it's actually called ... wait for it ... "duty upon striking an unattended vehicle" - no, i'm not kidding! the "duty" part is the duty to leave a note with your name, ins info, dl#, contact info, etc. it's still a crime, so if you find who did it and he won't pay for it, take pics of his car/truck and press charges. don't ask me how i know this...

same thing sorta happened to me, but it wasnt that bad. It was bad enough to destroy my ms bumper and bend one of my oil coolers. Thats why now i park as far away as possible when at parties. Sometimes i even park a street away from the party. Get some new friends too
