If it's cold out, like under 50, my car makes a weird sound if I rev above 3k and let the rev fall. It's like a popping sound and I can see the effect in the tach each time it pops. After I've warmed up the engine a little it goes away, though.

Have I described anything that you go through?

I just noticed it like 3 weeks ago. Maybe it's just the cold climate? This is the first winter we'll go through together..

 

Let your car warm up before revving, mine does little pops also. In case you dont know, the car has a 6K rev limiter when its cold. Let it warm up( until its idling at 1500 or lower) and everything should return to normal. This car backfires when its warmed up though! Mine does at least

 

so it's just backfiring? When I'm not revving, just lifting the rpms to 3.5k to warm it, I can still hear it =\

 

Sounds like it, lol. If you want to confirm, have a friend sit in it for u while u stand behind it and have him do it and see if you hear popping.
