notice any coolant or water puddles under your car since the pump was changed? is the smell more noticable in the car or out? under the hood or not?

Maple Syrup -> Ethelyne Glycol -> agent put into antifreeze. Check for coolant leaks.

Is the car running hot?
Check(when cool) that they put the cap back on correctly.
Look all under the car and see if you see any liquid..........indicating a leak.
Check the hoses as well.

I don't suppose that they would just yank the pump and make a mess all over the place and just let it go at that......and that's what's she is smelling......do you guys? Nothing would suprise me anymore I guess.

Agreed on the coolant.

I use 5w30 with no problems at all.

Weird Smell Can Someone Help Me Out

Thanks For Getting Back To Me So Soon... There Has Been No Leaks In My Drive Way .. I Can Smell It Better When I'm Out Of The Car But I Can Also Smell It In The Car When I'm Stuck In Traffic ... Lolol I Don't Eat In The Car ... To Be Honest I Really Don't Want To Take It Back To The Mazda Dealership I Really Feel Like They Are Just Dicking Me Around When Ever I Go There .. But I Also Feel Like Since It's Their Mess Up They Should Fix It .. So Does Anyone Know Of A Place That Works On Roatary Engine ??? Someone They Trust Just So I Can Have Some Test Done And Then Take It Back To Mazda And Have Them Fix It ....

Wow, That Is Really Strange.

I Would Take It To A Dealership Anyway ... Especially If You Are Still Under Warranty.

Watch out... Dominion may have hid that dead fish of his in your car.

That fishy smell has been going around the forum for two years.

+ 1 for coolant leak, +1 for taking it back to dealership, and +1 for telling them to @$#% off if they give you a hard time about fixing it!

I'm seeing these posts, but am of no help to the panels. I know that usually there are some screws(look around the handle) and then most just pull off, but DO NOT go by what I say as I'm not sure. Never had to do it. If I was at home I could help because I have the shop manuals on my other machine, but I'm far away from home right now!

When's the last time you had the car to the dealer? I would imagine that if you're not seeing any coolant below the car or the coolant dropping that the service department spilled some coolant when they replaced the pump and you're smelling it burning off of something.
