I don't believe he knows if anything else broke ... you can see the shield behind the brake rotor is all torn up (in the pic ...), bet there's a bunch more damage

the dealer finally looked at the car, the axle is fine but I need a new lower tension bar and since the rotor is scraped it needs to be replaced. Could be worse i suppose. The wheels really took the brunt of the impact.

Someone glanced the rear side of my car and broke the rear driver side wheel. There was no damage done to the suspension or anything else under the car. So, I guess it's possible to not cause any other damage and still break the wheel. I believe these wheels are pretty fragile.

These are cast aluminum alloy wheels. Castings are brittle. Aluminum is brittle. Brittle means they have no flex. Any dynamic load (impact) in a direction that wasn't meant to withstand that dynamic force will cause a fracture. If you don't want to break your wheels and all the suspension associated with them, then don't smack them into things sideways.

Use your warranty for legitimate claims. Like someone said earlier, stuff like this makes it harder for everyone with a legitimate warranty issue to get fair treatment.

That insurance for wheels and tires covers any accident, even if it was your fault. But you had to purchase the insurance when you bought the car. It's a seperate policy.

That's a nasty injury.

That's what I said. They're fragile. So, you can break the wheels without messing up the suspension. I was just trying to say it's possible to not damage the suspension if a wheel is broken. People were acting like it's a done deal that his suspension is twisted metal carnage. :D That idiot hit me a lot harder than 15 mph.

loco, do you feel your powertrain and suspension is as good as it was before your accident?Wondering if the jarring impact shakes things out of whack even if the major suspension components don't need to be replaced. Thanks....

RXcellent, I have noticed no difference at all since the accident. And I do feel very lucky that there wasn't any other damage.
