Warranty

What mods can be done without voiding the warranty? I bought a 04 with a 4 year/100000 miles extended warranty and would like to do a few mods, but don't want to void my warranty. Any input would be much appreciated.

It all depends on the dealership and what mods they consider warranty voiding. What mods do you plan on doing?

I think I will deal with Heritage Mazda if any work needs to be done. I want to do the exhaust, and air intake. The rest of the mods will all be interior, rims, sound, and things that won't affect the warranty. I think it might be a good idea to call them, and ask if the exhaust and air intake will void the warranty?

A catback exhaust shold not be a problem. Now a aftermarket high flow cat or mid pipe will be a problem with warranty. Some dealerships allow aftermarket intakes and some do not. It is a good thing to keep your oem intake just incase. What intake and exhaust are you looking at?

About 10 years ago, when I was still living in South Africa, I had a Opel Corsa with a K&N filter, and the dealers wasn't very happy, they told me to put it back to stock asap or I will lose my warranty. That's the reason I was brought this up, and don't want to lose the warranty esp on a 04.

I have done some reading, and watched a few clips on youtube, and I really like the Mazdaspeed exhaust and intake. I think it sounds really good... But I am open to ideas.

Some more details about the extended warranty would be helpful. Is it through Mazda USA or the local dealership? You should have some paperwork that gives more details about this. A third party warranty can be more of a pain.

I have the premium package from Vehicle One, which is a third party...

3rd party warranties are all different and have nothing to do with Mazda. They can make the terms whatever they want. Typically they are highly restrictive as their goal is to NOT pay for any repairs you require. If the warranty is important to you, read and follow the terms closely.

People bitch about aftermarket because they want cash repairs + they dont want to fill out any warranty paper work.
