I shut cruise down by pressing the button.

what do you mean emergency mode?
I have turned it off by tapping brake pedal, or even pressing down the clutch pedal(downshift).
its a freaking cruise control, there is no emergency mode. it either work or does not work.
mines been working perfectly fine.
