Wanting to Buy an RX8, BUT
Hey everyone,
I am considering to be joining your community shortly - But I am having a few debates with myself of whether or not this car is right for me. I am looking for a car I can drive casually (On occasion), and also use as a car for the races. This includes drag and track racing. Does this car have the potential to become a fast take-off car, that can climb to the high speeds at rates comparable to, say a 350z, 325, etc. ?
I am not, let me repeat, NOT a street racer. I would use the car as a weekend driver and race is otherwise. I understand that the torque rating on this car is quite low (But still great HP/TQ numbers considering 1.3 L ). I drag against WRX's, 350/370Z's, BMWs, etc, and am looking for a competitive car, and the rotary seems like a viable solution. I know the handling is superb on the car, so track racing I would have a great advantage over some others, but like stated above, it would also be for straight line racing.
To add, I may go FI on it if need be, but am wondering from you all (The rotary guru's) what the car is like both NA and FI compared to some other cars.
Thanks all

Drag racing, no. Track racing, yes. Autocross, big time.
This is not a car for straight-line speed. Even with forced induction, you still won't be at the top of the pack. If you need straight-line speed, this may not be the right car for you.
