Actualy I was wanting to get rid of it before it started doing it...Only reason I got it is because It was in my price range at the time.

I love the car, especialy the color...love the rotary motors...the 8s just not for me. I want somthing alittle more quicker and better on gas...somthing I dont have to babysit constantly. Im just too young to keep up with such a car honestly.

I'm leanin toward a 350z...FD is my dream car though, always has been.

but anyway...and its not just the knock thats worrying me either, its alot of simple things that annoy me with it, all kinds of faulty sensors, climate control is messed up, power steering is ******* up...ext...

And if anyone wants it, ill sell it for 13k firm...with everything on it plus the factory exhaust...

So your car rattles, has no power steering, stalls, and you want to sell it for 13k firm. ya ummm i have been pretty harsh to you in the other thread even though i rarely ever am a harsh person, but seriously i would at least get it fixed before you try to sell it.

You're not getting pre-ignition or misfires at idle. There's simply not enough combustion chamber pressure or timing advance that's going to cause anything of the sort.

Front bearing knock is a real possibility as Charles mentioned previously. That could be changed by making sure you're running a 5w or best a 0w oil which a 20w or 30w viscosity to ensure you're getting good lubrication at startup.

I get exhaust popping pretty frequently during the colder months here in Arizona. It's not pre-ignition or a misfire...it's just popping exhaust. I highly doubt this is anything you should concern yourself about.

Regarding the fuel system...the fuel filter element is designed in a way where even if it was to become clogged the fuel can bypass and still enter the pump. Jeff here at BHR has done quite a lot of testing and examination of supposedly "spent" fuel pumps and they all flowed just fine. Now, a fuel pump failure or pending failure is possible as the stock pumps have been shown to die. Still, the most common failure is when the pump goes into high output which you don't get at idle.

The RX8 does have it's share of issues but any vehicle that's got say above 80k on the ticker is going to require more attention.

i tried to find this issue on the threads but no luck ... this morning started my car as usual only thing is that i parked in very big hill, and im in the time to ad my quart of oil(you know every 1000m)so started the engine all fine i let it warm, then put it on reverse(car in front of me) as i was accelerating high RPMs i felt i little knock and pop so i stopped and then the car started idling rough and my CEL came on flashing and it didn't stop,i felt i a little bit of power loss i didn't drive the car to work, turned off, i figured after work i'll stop for a quart of oil to put in disconnect the battery and see if that helps

any ideas guys ??

get the cel read as well - it could be something as simple as a coil gone bad or as complex as a blown motor .

you had a misfire. sounds like a pretty bad one and so you might have lost a coil. thats all.

as for the OP you arent even having a knock. Sounds like you are having a slightly lumpy idle when cold with some small misses. You might be having coil issues and like charles said you might want to change your oil if you haven't already in case your having some bearing noise.

this statement is wrong
The the knock sensor retards your timing making it run lean so there will be less pre-ignition
you keep saying this

Because we all know
and each time you have you made an incorrect statement

sputtering after a hard run? you mean when you let of the gas as the rpms are dropping you get some pops? thats quite normal.

power steering? some times it needs reset. turn your key to on, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left then all the way to the right then back to center.

Hey do you know if having a bad pack of coils will cause the engine to lose compression?
My dealer told me they did a test first and no compression, then Mazda had the car for two days and it came with the conclusion of a bad pack of bad coils
just trying to get ready when I go in and ask questions, dint want this to be some BS and then have to take the car in again for a new engine,

I've searched but couldn't find anything

Thanks guys I'm learning more of this car cuz of you !!

it was probably flooded and thats why you had no compression.
