Vandals - Paintball or something

Well I went out to move my car this morning to let the wife's car out, got out locked it up so it could run for a bit. After I turned it off I noticed some green stuff on the rear driver's side door and thought it might be some bird crap or someting. I went to the trunk to get my quick detailer and clean it up when I saw two splats of green stuff on the back. Looked a bit like a paintball impact but it came off fairly easy so maybe it wasn't. One hit so hard it knocked the Mazda badge loose. Actually had to pop it off and wash it in the kitchen sink. Another hit the right taillight and actually got inside the trunk. I then decided to take a couple of pics (splat that got in the trunk) to see if anyone has any ideas on what it might be. Doesn't appear to be any lasting damage which is good of course just glad I found it before it dried.

I so need a shed so I have room in my garage for my car

That's definetely paintball. See the shell from the actual ball itself too? Then the paint is the green stuff. I wonder if some kids were just playing around your car and your car was just in the way or if someone did it intentionally to vandalize. I guess only you would know that since you are the only one that knows what kind of area you live in.

Make a report to the police. No real damage but as far you can tell you might be one of many and one of the few who got away with no real damage. And if all else there will be a record if these teenagers (most likely) ever get caught.

Nice though that it didnt do any real damage when I read taillight I was bracing for "..was broken.."

I wouldn't file a police report until I was certain it was vandalism. No point in getting some kids in trouble over an accident. Because, this is highly unlikely, but they may have not even realized that they hit your car and would be willing to pay for the damages without having to involve the police. But, I seriously doubt that they didn't know they were hitting a car.

Well it was sitting in my driveway and we have had issue with vandalism (bb gun shots and so forth) in the past but it's been a couple years. I didn't see any other hits on the car or around it. I'm inclined to believe someone took some pot shots at it.

Why would anyone be firing a paintball gun in a residential area around other people's personal property? Definately vandalism.

You can play it in the woods. I have no idea where this guy's house is or anything like that. I don't know if he lives near the woods, or lives in the city someplace. You can play in woods behind people's houses away from personal property, but at the same time those paintballs travel pretty far sometimes. But, by what you said with no other shots anywhere, it does sound like vandalism.

I remember watching on "Spike TV" (I think it was one of those police/shocking videos program) where a couple of kids were videotaping themselves driving around a citty doing "drive by shootings" with a paintball gun. They shot homeless people sleeping in a park bench, pedestrians just walking down the street, cyclists (which fell from their bikes, and most likely sustained moderate injuries) and even a lady waiting in a bus stop, untill they shot some pedestrians right across from a police cruiser and got caught.
It was sickening seeing them just laughing and enjoying the hell out of causing inocent bystanders such pain and mayhem.

It would have been interesting if one of the victims would have been carrying, and actually returned fire (which never happened, but a lot of the victims actually thought they were been shot with a firearm)

When I mentioned it my wife when she got back she reminded me that we heard something Saturday night that sounded like shots or firecrakers but not as loud. I'm off a fairly major street and my house is right by a stop sign so they have a nice easy time to slow up and let loose.

I have half a mind to put a post up by the driveway with a fake camera on it. Would love a real one but don't want to spend that kind of money.

There is no excuse for this type of behavior. Someone needs to be punished.

What do you have in your garage that keeps the 8 in the driveway?

Better be something pretty important.

The garage has been reclaimed!

After 8 years of home ownership an actual car now is in the garage, well not NOW since I'm at work but you get the point. No more crap can happen to my car at least when its at home.

Just had to tell someone who would appreciate it is all.

That was on CSI: Miami, too.

That's why I keep my car cover on when not in use. I'm not really worried about the neighborhood-- I live in a city of LEOs and judges.

This is a very common type of vandalism and can do damage due to the velocity of the paintballs. Some kids have a complete lack of respect for other people and property. There are kids that think driving around and shooting cars with paintballs is an acceptable and entertaining evening of fun. "Did u see the splat on that one?" LOSERS!!!!!!! Get a haircut, a job and contribute something to society.

Yeah that stuff sucks. My brothers car got tagged a few months ago (But it was a Ford Focus, so I didn't sweat it j/k) but he REALLY got tagged, I mean at least 20 shots were unloaded on his white Focus. Slimily and dried paint everywhere. In the trunk, and a few got in the car and on the wheather stripping so it had to be replaced because it cracked it. Broke a turn signal lense. He was furious. But joke was on the kids, our neighbor was a State Trooper and had his car back into his driveway and his car cam caught everything, even got the kids faces and their licenses plate number. But that was a one in a million chance.

Luckily for me there was no permanent damage that I could tell and just two hits. I'm just glad to be using the garage for once and if this is what it took then maybe it was worth the hassle. With the previous owners workbenches in there I only have about 6 inches of clearance but I plan on tearing one of them out soon. Good thing the 8 is not a wide car. The tiny rear doors are actually a help too.

I had a pumpkin thrown at my RX-7 several years ago. I have a detached garage in the back of the house up the driveway. You can see it from the street. I have an iron gate at the base of the driveway. It's about a 25-30 foot gap between the gate and my car. I used to back that car in so the hatch was against the garage. It had been broken into before which is why the gate is now up. A dumb kid by the name of Jason (who works with DrKilljoy!) decided it would be funny to throw a small pumpkin at my hood. He missed and the pumpkin smashed on the ground immediately in front of my airdam. It was close. He missed by less than a foot. When it broke apart, pieces of it shattered and hit the bottom of my car and made it all the way to the back of the car, hitting the garage door. It set my alarm off and I immediately came running outside fully armed! No one was around by then.

It took several years to find out who did it until Drkilljoy was loading pictures of a club meet when he was at work one day. He was working on a picture of my car when Jason was looking over his shoulders and Jason flat out said "I threw a pumpkin at that car!". Idiot. DKJ told me of course but then went and warned Jason that I was after him. Jason's known for a long time that I'm out to get him and he's been a sneaky little coward ever since. He's a small little pumk who's got an ugly bitch for a wife so going home is probably worse than anything I can ever do to him! The first time I met him was at a friend's house and right off the bat he made some stupid comment against me. A couple of my friends held me back because I literally dove after him. They intercepted me though and basically told him to run for it. He did. Then he found out where I lived and threw a pumpkin at my car for it.

If you get word of this Jason, you still need to watch your back! You'll never expect it and I guarantee you WILL see me again at some point in the future! It may be tomorrow. It may be next year. It may be 5 years from now when you are at one of your kids school plays or games but it will happen. It may have been 10 years since you did that but I don't forget and I will always hold a personal grudge. Yes I still know what you look like! Your day is STILL coming!
