Use of the clear plastic chip guard

This is just a guess: the clear adhesive on the quarter panels is to protect from stone chips.

However, if the appearance package side skirt is installed, it would seem that the stone chip guard is pretty useless.

I peeled off one side to perform dent repairs.

Does anyone know for sure what they are for, and has anyone had a rock chip there even with side skirt?

Nobody knows what I'm talking about yet. Look below at the corner of the wedge shape that is starting to peel off. That is what I ripped off. It is a clear plastic film.

Yeah it's made for stone chips but personally i would just leave it on with appearance package or not just in case...

if the rocks are said to kick off from the front wheels, i don't see the appearance package protecting it because it kicks up closer near the front where there is no appearance package part. I know someone that had their clear film taken off and was fine, but he had a full sideskirt.
