15.3....what grade and brand gas are you using? I use Shell V-Power only. My 8 has 3200k on it. I am averaging about 19MPG. And trust me....I don't drive slow.

Congrats again. Enjoy. Oh yeah....the White is awesome. My local dealer has one, every time I see it...I love it more.

Good brand, good gas. Your 8 just needs more miles on it. Sounds like you are taking care of that. :D Enjoy.

hehe.
On the break-in period, Ive taken the needle up to 5-8rpm quite a few times before hitting 600 miles. Would that hurt my motor? I
know i shouldnt rev it up that high. It's so tempting. lol

Contrary to popular belief...the engine is broken in at the factory. However, it is highly recommended you not push it until 1k on the clock. I know it's tough to wait, although 1k is not that much, you will be there before you know it. Then you can 9k it till your hearts content!!

I got my 8 on August 7, 2003. It's S/N is ...502, pretty close to the beginning. I wanted blue so bad, I had the car shipped from a Detroit area dealer, about 130 miles away and accepted that it had 700 miles on it, driven by "the dealer's son".

My 8 started out using a quart of oil about every 800 miles, by about 5k on odo, it was down a quart every 2k miles. For a rotory, that's pretty normal.

I usually give 1st, 2nd & 3rd a good workout, as I live on a 55 MPH two lane, out in the country. I've had no problems with the engine, now at 14,000 miles and have averaged 17.3 mpg (I started logging every fill-up at 2100 miles.

My number one suggestion for engine reliability is keep the oil up over a half quart down and change it every 3-4,000 miles.

My '88 RX-7 had 122,000 miles on it with this regiment and burned a quart every 3K miles. It never had any major engine trouble!

That's not too bad. I have over 7000 miles on my 8 and my last tank got me a horrible 13.3 mpg. Yeah, and there's nothing wrong with my car...
