No difference, rotaries (without turbos) can run really low octane grades - we have 87 available here, works just fine, 4 years and counting.
I've done experiments up to 114 octane rated fuel (work in a refinery) with no gain.....
Just for my own info, what is the price spread between a litre of cheapo and a litre of the hi? Here we pay about 8 cents, (Canadian$) so about 4 or 5p....

Ollie, check your owner's manual for the recommended octane rating, and when you read numbers here make sure you convert between RON values and the (R+N)/2 values that most of us quote.
My US owner's manual says 96 RON or better, but 91-95 RON is ok with "slightly reduced performance." (R+M)/2 values are 91 recommended, 87-90 OK at "slightly..."
Lots of posts here from people who use the low end and say their cars perform as well or better on it. Also lots of posts from people who say thier cars run like crap on anything less than 91. So see what you and your car like. You won't get any benefit from octane above the recommended value. (Others may disagree with that - too bad.) You might not have any problems at lower values.
I use 93 in mine, because where I live they sell 87, 89 and 93. I believe in following manufacturers recommendations (which would be 91), but I'm just not compulsive enough to fill 50/50 with 89 and 93.

you will notice no difference in mileage or performance between regular and premium fuel as long as the fuel is pure gasoline and not ethanol blend. Add ethanol and the gods of rotarydom will stick their straws of hell into your gas tank and start sucking for all their might.
Which ain't fun when that's all you can buy in your area.
