Underbody protective coating...

So on the underbody of the car is a black rubbery coating. Well I took my car to a drive in and the hump was steeper than the others and at very slow speed my car bottomed out and pulled some of it off.

I was wondering what kind of impact this could have later...also, is there anything that can be bought to recoat the areas that were peeled off?

Thank you

it can be re-sprayed but i wouldnt worry to much about it....seeing you do live in CO, you will get snow/salt on the under side, you should be cleaing the car like once a week in those conditions to keep the harsh winter junk (chemicals) off the paint/metal. If you do that shouldnt be a big problem.

The insulation on the bottom does a few things, but doenst do any of them that well (IMO) protects the metal under the car, blocks heat/insulates and also stops some road noise by acting as sound insulation.

You should be able to find a lot of shops that could respray that area, or the whole car....or you can buy a few cans of the same stuff yourslef (sold in aresol cans like spray paint at most auto-shops) its easy to apply, just clean the area and paint and let it have enough time to dry.

I have the spray coating from the auto shop, and it works OK. I had a steep driveway at my old house that I would scrap the same spot over and over again. Each time I went in for my service, I would have the Mazda tech paint it with the goo.
