uh oh

Ok, I was doing my daily redline.

and I just kept it in first and slowly went up till I heard the beep and kept it there for like 2 seconds. The CEL started blinking for about 30 seconds than stopped.

What happened? Shooting fire?

No, expect to pay Mazda $700 for a new ignition system pretty soon... unless you do it yourself.

If you want to clean out them carbs dont do it that way. Try this, Redline 1st 2nd 3rd on a freeway on ramp like your running from the cops. That will clean out the carbs

About that CEL, Might be a spark plugs or coils. Good luck!

you realize you want full WOT (wide open throttle) to clear out the carbon. simply accelerating normally and not changing gears wont cut it.

pedal to the metal is whats needed.

lol, Don't worry. Almost every intersection when no one is front of me theres pedal to the medal. Probably why I almost go through a half of tank of gas a day.
Oh well I didn't buy a sports car to get good mpg.

Misfire is pretty normal on our car. Hell it flash the CEL only if it detects more than a certain amount of misfires under certain number of times (I forgot the exact number)

but I do not suggest the OP to do the Redline in 1st Gear, thats not what this gear meant for. do it in 2nd on a highway, speed is about right.
