Got hit hard in rear... No Damage! :)

I was sitting at a red light this evening when someone rear ended me pretty hard. It was hard enough that my wife heard it through the cell phone. I was sure there had to be serious damage. I was shocked when I got out to look and found nothing but the other cars paint! Not a scratch or dent of any kind on my RX8. It was a solid hit square in the middle of the bumper. Paint from the other car came off on my license plate and to either side. We've got a stout little car!

No visible damage . . . Very cool !

But, I would have the car inspected, just to be safe.

That was a terrible picture to post. I wouldn't doubt that crash was fatal.

i would check the bumper. not the plastic bumper cover everybody calls the bumper. the REAL bumper underneath all the beauty. were you in neutral using no brakes? that relieves a lot of force.
if there is no damage, that congrats, play the lotto

^^^ Lucky this time. It's had a rough summer. In April I was caught out on the highway in a bad hail storm and in June I, um... hit a small....um, tree.

Things are looking up though. She's all back in one nice shiney dentless piece, just passed the recall tests and I'm headed to the dyno this weekend!

Are you sure you were hit? Maybe you were dreaming... right?

No way he rear ended you hard... no way. I just got rear ended and this what a rear ended RX8 should look like:

Lucky you....

Wow, you win man. You ok? What the heck hit you, a truck? Looking at the trunk lid it must have been something tall.

I was hit be a small old import with a round nose. Don't remember what it was. The paint on their nose was flaked off like their bumber deformed and popped back out.

You really got creamed. Hope you are alright.

I was reading a thread about something similar to this and the exhaust was damaged. Someone told him to have the engine checked as the exhaust is connnected to the engine.

When I was rear ended, I got several dents and bent licence plate while the other guy had his front bumper totally fall of and his radiator explode.

I have been parked and come back to my car with small dents ini the front and back, clearly from poor parrallel parking. When you have dents in front, back, and the side (1 ding) you begin to really hate how careless some teen drivers can be (virtually) oblivious to others' cars.

Wow, no cosmetic damage though, kind of surprised!

something similar to this happened to me.. the only thing is my car was int he garage and when i got up in the morning to opent he garage i noticed it wouldnt open..

so i got close to the garage door and i saw my car had rolled back and was leaning on the garage.. go figure i forgot to put it in 1st

a minor knick happened on the little lip where the licence plate and the bumper are but since its upside down you cant see it..

I was pissed as myself..

unlikely, usually a tarp is placed over the car if there is or rescue will be extricating the body. i've been the unlucky SOB to have to cut them out or place the tarp a few times.

from my experience, the front end of the car will absorb the impact of a low speed collision.
I hit my bosses kia rio(made from pop cans and styrofoam) with a 92 corolla and he had no damage, my hood wouldn't close anymore and the bumper was pushed in considerably
