Angry turned down...

Today I went to West Covina Mazda dealership for my free maintenance service, but was turned down...reason being that my car has not reached 5000miles, but it has been 4 months since I purchased the car...wasn't it part of the deal either 4months/5000miles which ever comes first???

And earlier in the week I was turned down for a free service at Anaheim Mazda for basically the same reason...

Go back to the dealership and regulate!! It is clearly stated in your owners manual under schedule 2 that it is either 5k or 4 months, which ever comes first. That's at least 3 oil changes a year regardless how much you drive. Go back and lay the smack down.

Here check for yourself:

That's weird! I was there at West Covina Mazda today too (at 3PM for a while-u-wait appointment I scheduled last week) for my free oil change. Which service writer did you talk to? A guy named Erick wrote my work order, and he didn't give me a hassle. I've had my car since July 17th, it has 6495 miles, and it's already had one oil change at Claremont Mazda at 3250 miles (but that one wasn't under the Mazda free maintenance deal - it was part of my purchase contract at that particular dealership that I get free oil changes every 3K miles).

Erick just double-checked the TSB on his computer to make sure I was eligible for the 5000 mile interval maintenance (I told him the card was for either service interval). They did the oil change while I waited, used the correct weight and volume of oil, and even washed my car for me -- all free.

I'm going back there for the rest of the free maintenance! Maybe you need to call and ask for Erick if you want to try to give them another shot. Tell him Jeri with the red 8 said he was cool to deal with, if you think that'll help.

The dealer must be eating some of the costs too causing them to drag their feet as much as possible ...

There should be no question on this. It's by either time or miles. As others have also noted, it's in the owner's manual and the relevant TSB.
