The real feel of the car
I have owned over 25 rx7 and 8's. We are so spoiled with how our life's are governed with computers. I feel that if your afraid of safely driving with it turned off then you shouldn't drive it at all. What about the cars models that don't have it at all are they unsafe to drive? Not...
Why is there a button to turn it off? If you have been stuck on wet grass or in snow you would know why... These are my opinions |
I'm sure if you ask an insurance company, they'll tell you exactly how much stability control systems contribute to accident rates. It's not a question of unsafe or not, it's is it 1% safer than not. I suspect yes. These systems aren't built for people who have had 25 RX8s, they're built for your grandma and teenage son.

Because it works too well! Okay, I realize that sounds stupid. I leave mine on most of the time. But I realized something this week - leaving it on all the time has forced me to, unknowingly, rely on it.
We all know how to turn the systems off right - press the button (turns the DSC off) hold the button for 7 or 8 seconds - turns off the traction control. This week, I started turning it off as soon as I started the car. Then, I'd drive as I usually do. This pointed something out to me - I drive the car hard. I found that I was routinely accelerating hard enough in turns, to make the back end step out - sometimes a lot. Of course, with the system on, nothing happens - you just go! I guess my point is that leaving the system on all the time, you won't really "learn" how to drive the car at the limits - in the pure sense. But, if you never turn the system off... the point's moot - the system's got your back. Oh, it later dawned on me that cops kind of frown on little red sports cars drifting around ramps... ;) I may have to go back to letting the systems do their job... -Mark |

Sorry - my intention with the ;) was that I was kidding - I don't "drift" around onramps. Ocassionally, the back end will step out - sometimes a lot. This is that "learning" thing I was referring to. Damn, you guys are some uptight pussies.

Trash control will not turn off
Hey all, I had a question hopefully someone can give me an answer without the bullshit respectively. My traction control light does not light up on the gauge cluster when I turn the battery on. I hold the DSC down for 15 seconds and still no change .My fuses in the driver panel and the fuse box under the hood look perfectly fine they are not broken or burned. But again that doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t functioning properly. But I noticed after I bought the car that I had tea PMS sensors in the glove box. The tires that are currently on the car “the ones that came with the car “have smaller tea PMS sensors on there. But I don’t know if they are the correct type . Could this be the reason why my traction control does not cut off? I worked at Discount Tire very briefly but I do know that certain tea PMS sensors go with certain cars. So I have half a mind to go have those other four from the glove box put on . Anyways thank you for whoever reads this looking forward to some kind of help or advice. PS those of y’all that don’t know a rotary engine is so fucking fun to work on 🙂❤️ |
Even with no tea PMS. I think you can still turn off the traction control
|
Then I wonder what the issue is? Because anytime I try to look up a diagnostic. It’s always people asking how to turn it off or they’re saying that it won’t turn off. But my light just doesn’t come on at all |
I honestly have half a mind just to take the fuse out and see what happens |
You have to make sure there are no other traction related light's on the dash before you are able to turn DSC off . But you may want to try this to reset the traction control, BTW you will have to drive the car around a while before the traction control lights will go off

You could totally rip the fuse out and at least see if the light will ever come on. Could be a broken light or someone may have unplugged the DSC button maybe..
|
You could be right about the button. But I have a manual and followed those steps. That’s why I’m puzzled
