Tuned FD vs. RX-8 Track Battle at Tsukuba
Hey Guys,
Came across this interesting video from Best Motoring. They round up a bunch of Japan's tuned FD RX-7's and RX-8's to do a massive 5-lap battle at Tsukuba circuit. The FD's get the podium spots, but the RX-8's post the two fastest lap times.

The yellow Pan Speed RX-8 and the black Revolution RX-8 that were the fastest cars there are powered by peripheral port 20b's running individual throttle bodies and the whole 9 yards. Over 400RWHP naturally aspirated and the cars are in the ballpark of 2300lbs.
The three other RX-8's that got the dead last positions and were off the pace by over 5 seconds per lap and super ******* slow I'm pretty sure were Renesis engines.

Well, that explains it!!
LOL

I wonder if the same driver with both cars would run faster in the RX-8 vs a FD on a short track (1.4 mi). I went recently and those long gears on the FD were killing me. Granted, I don't have the most track experience in the world but I think I'm a pretty solid driver. RX-8 is going next time and just by cruising around town, I think I could get in and out of those tight sections just a hair quicker in the RX-8. That back straight is where I was making up a ton of time tho so I'm interested to see what happens.
