Trunk gas struts - two different kinds in the US?

I'll be swapping trunk lids with another 8 owner so that we can trade spoiler for spoilerless.

My question is, in addition to the trunk lid, must we swap gas struts? Are the struts for the spoiler trunk lid from the factory stronger than the the struts for the spoilerless trunk?

I'm searched but I'm not too sure if the US model 8s have different struts.

My car was originally without the spoiler and then 2 years later I bought the OEM spoiler and had it installed. It was no different.

Same stuff. It will be no problem.

My parts book shows no difference (56-860C). However, onlinemazdaparts.com has two different dampers "With sun-roof" and without. Perhaps a typo....

Call your Dealer's parts department and ask. I'd be curious as to the answer.

When I bought my Mazda OEM spoiler it came with another set of struts. I never installed them. I really don't see a difference in the way the trunk closes.

Most of the times, if there is a wing-a-ling on a car, there are pre-made holes for that, and they just screw them in through that. At least, that's how it was with the cars I owned before + the RX-7's.
