Transmission Warranty on 2004 MT??

Hey guys,

Can someone please show me when and at what mileage the extended warranty on the 2004 MT expires? My car has been grinding 1-2, 3-4, hard to get into R for a long time and it's getting annoying bec whenever I complain at the dealer (4x) they cannot find the problem. I want to get this resolved this year or I am going to trade her in. Currently have 54k miles. Changed to Redline at 10k, to royal purple at 35k, to amsoil at 52k and still no fix. I am guessing it is the synchros, clutch assembly or shift fork but they don't even want to drop the tranny without me committing to pay for everything. I wouldn't mind paying for a clutch if it's due but I'm pretty sure this is a manufacturer's defect as evidenced by other peoples 04 & 05 tranny issues as evidenced by stronger trannys in new versions.

If someone can give me a link to where it says something in writing so I have some ammo for when I battle it out with the dealer and Mazda NA, that would be great. And don't tell me to search, I've been a member since forever. Just help me out if you can, or move along. Tks

Power train warranty is 5yr/60000 miles. You are gonna paying for this out of pocket man. Sorry. Get with Paul at Mazmart, he can give you a great deal on transmissions.

i8u is correct on the warranty info. but it really depends on when it was purchased..

and if you are just over the date and have a good relationship with the dealer you might be ok..

and if you need one. i have a spare tranny i would sell...

You're in a decent position if the dealer has had the 8 a few times before w/tranny complaints. It will still be a battle, but at least if they tell you a new tranny is needed and try to say it's out of warranty you have a paper trail showing the problem existed well before the warranty expired.

Good luck.

If you have papers from the dealership saying you complained of grinding before the warranty was up and they couldn't resolve/reproduce the problem, you have a fair chance at being able to get them to cover it under warranty. If you don't, you're paying out of pocket.

Hope you kept your receipts, they'll come in handy around now. So will being polite, and knowing the number to MANO as a last resort.
