Traded the 8 for a 6...

well only for a day or so while my 8 is in for possible warranty work(might be a busted motor mount), but to the topic at hand.

The car I was loaned is an 06 Mazda 6 hatchback, options; 3.0 V6, 6 speed auto, leather, moonroof, Bose, climate control, TCS, power/heated seats, might be more but thats all that I have noticed so far. So this car has some GOOD power, kinda suprised me, I am a little biased but I think it is close if not even to the 8 in acceleration. The tranny is a dissapointment, when using the "manual" mode the up-shifts really lag(WAY to much in my opinion), downshifts arent to bad better than my old 05 Focus and 04 Malibu Maxx. The steering is too "soft" for me(probably spoiled by the 8), haven't had a chance to do any spirited driving. The brakes suck ***** compared to the 8, as does the handiling(DUH!).

The good things; the hatchback has TONS of room in the back(I almost cried when I opened it up), the seats are really comfortable but the position isn't the greatest.

This was not meant to compare these two vehicles, though thats what I did in my head while driving the 6, just my observations. I love my 8 alot more than this car but the 6 blows away my other previous cars(for-mentioned Focus and Malibu Maxx). If I was looking for a Front drive Saloon this would be it, well this or the Speed6.

I will let you all know about my 8 one I get word on the problem.

After I got my Rx8 the A/C was broken and while they had it I was given a 6 also. Close to the same spec's you gave but whomeva had it before me beat the ever living **** outa it! I mean the tranny was though a Auto felt like it was a manual and it wasnt as smooth as you might think. That and the speaker system was blown to bits. Only good thing about it was that the milage was killer lol. Saddest thing was the car only had about 1-2k miles on it and was already beaten to hell.

How the hell did you get a pickup truck.. wtf?!...lol
Service Rep:"Well he was driving a Rx-8"
Enterprise: "Great we have the perfect thing in our lot for him."
5 minutes later....
Enterprise: "Here is your car sir we got you something similar to your current car"
You: "What the hell.. a truck......?"
Enterprise: "Yes.. it has the same gas mileage...!"

hahaha!
everything comparable was "already rented out". or i could have paid the difference for a luxury rental. it didnt bother me until i actually drove the thing. in fact, i was looking forward to driving my first truck.

what i was hoping for originally was a 6, since i had planned to buy one of those before the 8 got her claws in me.

I've had said the same thing. I carpool with a friend who has a 6 with an intake and I think it would give a 8 a good run for its money. If the 8 wins it won't be by much. Good car for its segment, Mazda does make fun cars to drive.

I've never quite understood what the 17 different lenses in the headlights do.
I mean i guess fogs, highs, lows, turn signal... looks like some kind of insect though.

I had rented a car on 6 different occasions in the last 2 years and every time it was a Mazda 6 from Enterprise. Twice I got one with less then 1000 miles on it. It was nice compared to similar cars in its class and po\rice range. Wouild I trade miy 8 for one? You gotta be kidding right!

Why do people on here feel compelled to post pictures of stock cars?? And why would you take a picture of your rental? Are you Fletch or something?

This is my first post here. I just did the exact opposite. I had an 04 6s MTX with every option. Traded it in for an 06 8 MTX with the touring pkg. First, the ATX 6 is about a second slower to 60 than the MTX (lots more drivetrain loss for some reason). Even with this, the 6 MTX and the intake I had on it doesn't come close to the 8, let alone a 6 ATX. I also had springs and RB sways front and back on my 6, which really did help a ton, but it's still no 8. I don't regret it for a second (yet).

Not a bad choice, I test drove a loaded MS6 while they were detailing my new RX8 upon delivery and I was VERY impressed. If i hadn't already completed all my paperwork on the 8 I would've highly considered the MS6 instead. The power quite frankly shocked me, I thought it was going to accelerate briskly like the 8 but once it spooled up dare I say it felt even more powerful than my M3 despite the hefty 3700 pound curb weight.

I bet it might push and understeer if prodded too hard even with AWD but it's much roomier, more comfortable, practical.

PHXTravis,

Nope, not an *******.. I just have the common sense and courtesy not to put pictures that are readily available on a thred like this. Keep in mind that someone owns this space has to pay for the drive space to store it and the bandwidth to move it around anytime someone clicks on it.

But thanks for your understanding, jackass.

My dealer gives me a loaner too, and one time he gave me a Protege. The car looked like it had been through a war- scratched, dulling paint, etc.

The odometer showed 17,000 miles- it might as well have been 217,000. Moral- people sure feel free to abuse property when it's not their own.
