Tow Hitch

I did a search, and only came across a few posts, nothing helpful though. I know most people would not like the idea of a hitch on a RX8, but it's either that or sell the car, and I would rather keep the car. I need to get my supermoto to the track, and only way to do it is to tow it with my RX8... Any one done this before?

Any input would be appreciated...

I put a tow hitch on a 1990 Nissan Sentra. RX should be possible with some improvisation.

Nuff said.

He's not towing a car lol... The torque should be sufficient for a supermoto. My father towed a trailer full of all kinds of furniture with our 90hp sentra...

For what you wish to tow I do not see it being a big issue. Just do also bring three 200 lbs passengers with you.

You have hitches you can purchase a CURT or the Uhaul.

You can also go custom like THIS person.

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I called Mazda to ask if they have a factory hitch, but no luck. I think the Curt might be a good way to go. The bike is 220lbs so I don't think the RX8 will have any problem pulling it. I feel the same way as all of you about putting a hitch on my car, and therefore hope to get something that I can remove easily or hide somehow...

I just didn't see a wiring kit for the RX8 that fits the Curt? The wiring will be another headache

I found a nice cargo van 99 Chevy astro awd for $2900 that I was going to pick up today, and turn it into a race van for my bikes and tools etc... But changed my mind after calling the insurance for a quote, they ask me the same per year as what I pay for my RX8. Isn't that crazy?

Be careful of the type of hitch you buy. If you had performed a search, you would find that there is a hitch out there that tears holes in your trunk. I don't remember which one. Mazda does sell a RX8 hitch in the UK, but not here in the US.

Thanks alnielsen, I saw the post you are referring to, and if I am not mistaking I think you even posted it. I honestly don't want to put a hitch on my car, and hope I can find a different solution...

That's why I thought i am better off getting a hitch, but with the help of you guys, and more research I don't think it's the way to go... I will call more insurance companies and see if I can get a better rate.

Thanks for the input, i really appreciate it.

There are a couple of threads. I saw one with a tow hitch.

Try looking in the racing section. They use it to tows tires and tools to the track.

2 or 3 members like the hitch.
