No way!!! I'm always trolling that board and they hate us! That's right! I'm a troll! But that's not the point... I visit all the enthusiast web pages cuz I love all types of cars and I must say that the RX-8 is perhaps the most disliked car in all the forums. Of course the only people that post on those boards are punk kid ricers, but I'd say less than 30% of them have any respect for the RX-8. It actually brings me down to read the "xxx vs. RX-8" threads.

Thanks for your help. What is TTT? Is your car an '05? $25k for a 6-speed..not bad! Leather?

Thanks.
No problem...people here helped me so I'm just helping out...

Title

That's what they use in FL.

My deal was like this:

$25,000 (with TTT)
-$3,000 (down payment)
-$500 (trade in "1994 Probe GT")

Financed: $21,500

Now, the dealer said they gave me 5K for my Probe GT but there is no way that car was worth that much so...to me, I got the 8 for $25,000 (financing $21,500) ((((or is it $20,500)))

Anyway, it's a Base 6-speed.

The 8's are listed:

Base 6-speed ($26,000 starting)
GT version ($30,000 starting) if I remember right

So, my deal was pretty good but I bet you can get a better deal since so far the 8 is having a bad year in sales.

I just went to carsdirect.com and the price for a base 6spd W/O TTT comes to $24,917 and I'll bet if you go in there with a loan check in your hand (down payment/trade in/etc also) that you could offer them $24,000 "out the door w/TTT" and they would take it. That would leave you a pretty good payment. Now...that's for the base 6-speeed, you might want more toys in your 8. Persoanlly...as much as I would have loved Nav, Sunroof, and DSC I just could not get the price I wanted but the base has pretty much everything you "NEED".

Keep us posted...

Note: 24K out the door - down payment and trade in, not after them. Maybe if your trade in is worth 2K and you saved 2K you would only finance 20K leaving you a nice payment.

I understand what you're saying...the IS300 was my other top contender. It really depends on what you value more....I didn't read the whole thread because i'm lazy, but the big difference is the FWD/RWD. If you wanna mod the hell out of it, keep in mind the 05 RSX's don't have the same front/rear bumpers as the 02-04's do. I did really like the RSX when I drove it, but I wanted more than a FWD hatchback.

No it's alright... I believe you. But if you start posting links, so will I!! :p All I'm saying is that for every 1 positive comment, there are 4 or 5 negative ones.

envy = hate

lol, I respect the good of any performance car so those people who hate the 8 are probably just punk kids who can't drive but in a straight line. Heck...even then alot of them can't do that either. BUT...that's just my rant about people hating the 8...I'll stop now.

i have a '05 rx8 6spd with the touring package and my girl-friend has a '03 rxs-s . we swap cars some times, the rx8 is stock and the rsx has a cold-air intake. me and my GF both weigh about the same ammount, when we are following each other on the freeway we are almost exacaly even, i only start to pull on her once she gets into 4th gear (the rx8 seems to pull better at highspeed/topend) so on the speed/power front they are very evenly matched.

On twisty back roads if we are following each other its a little differnt, again my rx8 is stock touring so I have the sports suspension and the bigger brakes, she has progress springs, otherwise stock. entering a corner i can brake much later than here and dive out infront and get ahead of her, and keep my speed much higher through the corner, so I get away, as we exit the corner I can alway get my power down first thanks to the RWD and the weight balance, so again I take off out of the corner. I also find that thru a lot of tight right/left/right/left the rx8 handles the trasitions very well, the rsx feels like it wants to fight them a bit. of course this is driving at maby 8/10ths....if we were to be going on the limit, she would get gobs of understeer, and I would have oversteer as i wanted it (and I would rather have OS vs US anyday :-) )

when we swap cars, honestly to me, they feel very similar...although the rsx does feel a little faster cause of the wicked sound that cold-air intake makes. IMO they are very evenly matched cars, but the rsx will do better with mods than the 8.

Im all about handling and finesse, then speed....and I dont care what kind of power numbers a car puts down, it could be 100hp or 1000hp.....how does it feel, and how fast does the speedo climb.

the interior of the rsx also feels a lot cheaper to me than the 8, and thats with her leather and my cloth!

all in all its just what you like better, talk to the dealer for each, maby get a 24hr test drive, see how each does on some back roads, the highway and in trafic/commute to work. then decied.

also while my GF has a 03 with the 200hp motor + intake, a good friend of ours has a 05 with the 210hp stock.... and when they are messing around on the highway....its dead even bettween then, and i slowly creep past. so that .1 compression bump and 10hp doesnt have any effect over the lightly modded 03. maby the car gained some weight from the 02-04 to the 05+ . also something to think about....with the rsx, good gains can be made on the 02-04 with Kpro (ecu flash) but for the new 05+ honda made the ecu 'unflash-able' so thats 1 more mod off the list for new ones.

EDIT:

also wanted to add, I go trough about 1 qt of oil every 1k miles, i check my tires and fluids eveytime i fill up with gas. its not a big deal at all, and should be done at least every other time on any car. so adding oil isnt a big deal at all.

as far as gas miliage goes, I guess im one of the lucky ones, i drive 250 miles a week to work, and about 50 miles in other trips (store, out to eat, car meets ect.) so 300 miles a week. I get 22 mpg on average (if im driving like a good boy :-) ) and i get about 18mpg if im having fun. the brake down of the 300 miles a week would be about 250 city (of that 50 stop and go trafic, the other 200 regular city driving, occasional stop light, ect) and 50 miles of highway 70-85mph in 6th gear) so my gas miliage is pretty damn good IMO

my girlfiend in the RSX gets about the same miliage (300 per tank) and has very similar driving as mine. her tank is a little smaller so she gets about 25mpg if she is being a good girl and if she is having fun in vtec (being a bad girl like I enjoy :-) ) then she will get about 18-20mph.

so in an average month, i will have about 20mpg and she will have about 20mpg. again very even in the 'real world' at our best ends the rsx-s will get 5mpg more than the rx8 and at the worst end about the same.

pretty even trade if you ask me.

sure you can get really go MPG with the rsx, but im not talking about driving it like the EPA does, im talking driving it in the real world.

my night job I work valet, and nearly ever car I drive, everything from H2's to benz AMGs to bucks....ect....any of the cars that have the compute that shows your average milige. all the cars seem to be 15-18 in 'real world' driving by normal people.

i think most of that comes from idle'ing and stop/go trafic where your burning gas but not movings, sends MPGs way down

I am hoping to finance approx. $18k. My interest rates will slightly higher however. Oh well.

Great bit of comparison writing KYLiquid. Nice to see an unbiased review of cars with (you and your GF) able to actually do and discuss what you did together. Thanks for that...

If you don't want to get snow tires is there a good set of all season radials for the 8? I wouldn't mind losing some cornering ability to not have to keep a seperate set of tires.

Even with the best all seasons you're just asking for trouble.

Go to the RSX sight. Many have complained about the harsh ride.

Still a great car, but just wanted to mention that.

Also, when I test drove it, I felt too confined. Like a BMW M3.
