My bad, I saw Wisconsin state line and O'Hare in the same sentence and I just thought you were talking about the Northwest Tollway. I know what you mean now. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hey guys, I'm new, my mom and I just purchased a brand new RX-8 for my dad tonight. Its great because he's in texas on a buisness trip! He has NO IDEA that we bought him a brand new car, lol. Its a Velocity Red 6-speed Grand Touring package and spoiler optioned car. Fast as hell, even faster than my Eclipse, which isnt a slow car. DSM's rock, but now i'm seeing the light of the twin-rotor. Well, anyways, I live near chicago so every once in a while i'll take the Eclipse up to wisconsin because a friend of mine owns a boat up there. Well, on the highway (I-294 to the I-94 branch) I've hit a top speed of around 135 mph. This car is 7 years old and has 100k miles, and still pulls like mad. See you around!

I'm more interested in the acceleration at highway speeds than 0-60.

So while the RX 8 is a dog I do beleieve the highway acceration is greater than most of the competitors.

I ride and have raced motorcyles. If you know how to race you can drive fast.

There ain't too many of us out there.

110 on a trip to Cedar Pointe, On the Ohio turnpike, I was in a group of cars that was driving a steady 90mph, I just moved over and stepped on the pedal a bit, fastest I've ever driven was in a freinds 930 turbo, we were doing 160 on I-75 weaving in out of traffic, needless to say a change of underwear was in order, the thrill of the 930 wore off and this dude purchased a motorcycle, He's german! I've been to Germany many times, my family lives over there and the Autobahns dont have many accidents, but when they do they are usually pretty bad also getting a drivers license there is pretty difficult, they dont just give a permit to a 15 year old.

My point exactly. Why not teach people how to really drive before issuing them a license. And how about mandatory reflex and reaction time tests after 60 years of age... I think that is a better solution than the slow as speed limits which were created for gas consumption and prior to our economical (I think the RX-8 still falls in this arena even with the poor mpg) and better handling/braking cars that we drive today.

Well guys... due to some gusts of wind (kicking up a lot of sand onto the highway) I didn't feel it was safe to try to max it out. Maybe I'll go back again next week. Oh... lol... and I got pulled over halfway (I was only cruising at about 70mph) because a helicopter probably radioed ahead about a fast looking car with the driver wearing a helmet coming your way - to the cops of course. Cop asked me why I was wearing a helmet, and I told him because there was a recall on the car a while ago for the airbag and I'm scared its going to come out and hit me in the face while driving. He told me to take it off {laughing} and said to get out of here... slowly.

That's one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

I can only imagine what was going through the cops mind.

Hit 144 mph on NJTP the other day. I was racing a porsche. The porsche seemed to be faster. He must have been going like 155.

137mph in Houston a few months ago!! I was showing off to my passenger. I crapped my pants at that point and had to slow down!! The 8 felt like it had a few more miles in her. A buddy in Scotland claims he has had his 8 up to 148mph.

Hmmm....what's that smell?

You guys have guts. Me, I've never had my car over 150kms/hour. Even then I was scared - not scared of goin' fast, scared that I get nailed for speeding. 98% of the time, I'm under 120kms/hr. >SIGH<

I-75 isn't a great place to go that fast... the road isn't all that smooth and there tends to be traffic even late at night.

Did he give you a ticket?

Please be super careful out their with these great high speed top of the line vehicles. I like my mazda but I dont love it because it can take me out in just seconds. BE SAFE CHILDREN!! :o

Will the 8 really do 156 mph?

I had my FD over 150 mph, but that's obviously a different animal.
