Took her in..
Well I just took my "new to me" 2004 Rx-8, which I just Zainoed over the weekend, in for the recall work... as well as flash and general maintenance. Hope she comes out ok! I was lucky with my rental car... not too shabby! They gave me a 2003 Audi TT. I was quite suprised. Hopefully their service to my car is as pleasant as the loaner.
Will let you know my impressions of the R flash.
Ahh, and thumbs up for Zaino. A woman looking at 6's there was wandering around the parking lot, saw my RX-8 and walked around it and took pictures of it!

Fitz Automall of Annapolis.
The TT is nice, but I like my 8 more. Have to wait for the turbo to spool up of course. I'm sure it would be much better with a manual transmission. Fun to drive, but not as fun as the 8!

Got my girl back yesterday. Driving the Audi TT, I was starting to like it. Then I sat in my RX-8, started her, and a big grin came back across my face. She's running great, here are a few observations:
1. Idle seems a bit rougher now after the new PCM flash. Anyone else experienced this? Especially seems a little rough when the AC is on.
2. Gas mileage looks better right now. I'm getting about 21mpg.
3. This could just be in my head, but it seems a bit peppier at the top end.
Anyone else have experience with the recall and resulting flash?

Just got back to work from dropping off my 8 at Tustin Mazda. They gave me a Kia Amanti, which I consider pretty lucky. Ride is smooth, interior is actually quite luxurious, and I got LED turn signals baaabyy!!

I took mine in today for recall work as well and they paid for a rental car instead of a loaner. I still got stuck with the Mazda 6. This is the 3rd time I have been given this car as a loaner or rental and I just can't get over how cheap it feels especially when it was marketed as comparable to the 3 series BMW. Plus now that I have a rental instead of a loaner, I have to fill the tank back up with gas, drop it off at the rental place and pray they think the interior is as clean as when I picked it up, and then have them take me to the dealership to pick up my car. What a pain in the ***.

John Hine in San Diego gave me a Mazda 3. They have an Enterprise Rental in the dealership. I took the car with about 3/4 tank of gas and he just marked me up as 1/2 tank. It barely went down since I drove <20 miles to work and back.

you think a TT's nice, they gave me a carrera cabriolet when i had my car in for recall.
of course, i only had it for four hours...but hey, i still got to look like an o.g. for that long.
knowing the service manager well really has its perks. :D

I drove a TT when they first came out and I thought it was a giant piece of crap made for poseur car enthusiast who value style over substance. It was numb. But at least you didn't get some crappy econobox.

Yeah, the engineering of the TT was quite strange. And like I said, it was pokey before the turbo kicked in.. and even then, nothing that special. Still a nice car!
The service at Fitz appears to be good. It was quick and easy. The only thing, it looks like someone might have dropped my engine cover as there is a little bit of a rub mark on it.
