too tall to fit help
I am looking at RX-8's but can not find a dealer who has one with out a sun roof (they all have fully optioned cars) . I am 6ft 6in tall and will not fit in a sun roof optioned car. So if you have a non sun roof car and are close to 6ft 6in tall please let me know how well you fit and how far the reach is towards the wheel. I don't want to drive to another city to sit in a car and find out I just won't fit. Thanks you everyone.

I'm exactly your height (6' 6") and had the same issue. I got the sport package-equipped RX-8 and couldn't be happier. I fit just fine (since there's no sunroof), albeit the seat is pushed all the way back.
I got all those options that I really wanted - except for the leather which I added in the meantime (aftermarket).
I'm especially happy for not having to pay for the crappy Bose system. The base stereo was much easier to work with and upgrade.
Tell your dealer to find you a sport package-equipped car.

Thank you guys I was thinking of getting just the sport package. All the preformance goodies and none of the extra cost cosmetic options. I was cramed in the sun roofed car I looked at but man what a sweet ride and that shifter its like working a bolt action rifle can't wait. Now if I can get the wife to trade in the 03 protege.

6'4", Sport Package. I was actually wondering whether it's possible to have someone unbolt the front seat and move it back another inch or two. Is that unsafe?

I'm 6'6 and I fit just fine in an RX that had the sunroof.
Is your seat all the way back AND down?
Do you sit pretty upright in the seat?

I'm 6'1 and have no prayer of fitting in an 8 with a sunroof without being severely reclined while driving; it's not a problem in a base or Sport without the sunroof, though. (However, if you may still have an issue with the side of the roof where it curves down to meet the window when you go over some bumps.)
In my case, though I had no headroom issues, I did have a hard time finding a comfortable seating position due to the padding, or lack thereof, in the seat back...

Ya right on trhe side were the roof curves down I had my head cocked to the side bad. I know the sunroof costs you abotu 1.5 inches it should be enough so that I can fit. I am use to always having the seat back down and reclined a bit, but not so much that the shoulder belt dosn;t touch me.

I am 6'4" and find more room in my 8 than many 2 seat sport cars, including the vet. I have a sun roof and no problem because I like my arms streched out and the seat reclined back.

i went through a yellow light intersection pretty fast today (>70mph...unfortunately i was in a hurry) and i banged my head on the ceiling and it hurt! (the intersection was across a main street so it was like a little hill). im 6'1" sit upright and before never noticed anything more tthan my hair brushing across the leading edge of the sunroof but man that was an unexpected bump on the noggin.

Stone, you're going to have a hard time judging from other people's bodies. Without the moonroof you get another 1 1/2 inches of headroom. Judge by that.
BTW, the sport package is the best bang for the buck, imo. I also like the look without the moonroof. You can always add aftermarket leather too.

If at all concerned, just borrow a helmet and take it with you to a dealer and try a test fit.

I am 6'5" and with my hair I am closer to 6'8" my hair barely touches the top of the roof, I have the seat all the way down but I do not have it all the way back. I fit great!!!

I am 6'3-6'4 or so and was quite worried about headroom but was dead-set on leather and a moonroof. I ended up getting it, the seat is in th farthest back position and slightly leaned back.
You'd have to be quite short or an amputee to sit behind the drivers seat, but I love my car :D

I'm 6'3" with a GT. I have the seat as low and as far back as it can go. However, I have the seat slightly reclined. I fit perfect. I'm more torso than legs though. You may need to fiddle with the steering column to read all the gauges though.
The only time my head hits the the ceiling is when I wear a baseball hat. Otherwise, I'm good.
And at this height, this car does NOT fit 'four full size adults.'
Personally, I think this car is great for taller people because the rear doors are actually very helpful when the seat is all the way back as opposed to just having a two-door.

I'm 6'4" 1/2 close to 6'5", I have the Gt and what I do is move the front part of the seat as far as it will go, then I recline the back a little, and put the steering wheel in my lap, at this angle I can afford to move up an inch or two. I am split about 50/50 though.
