Yea no shit, i searched the other day about the law in Cali and read that 70% was the legal limit. I mean, getting that light of tint would hardly be worth it anyways but still....Cali just sux ass when it comes to emissions/vehicle laws. I heard (read it somewhere) Cali was on its way to even stricter emissions laws as well.
Rear windows can be 0% for all they care though, and you can have a 4 inch strip of 5% along the top of your windshield. |
^^That makes sense

go with the legal limit in your state. Get smoke tint as it appears darker than others. Here is a pic of mine with 35%.

i'm considering 5% i noticed you are in houston too! |
I live in Philadelphia and drive to the Poconos which is about 2.5 hours drive. I've been pulled over so many times its not funny and only once in my old car did I get a ticket for my tint. And he said that's why he pulled me over, even though I was doing 80 right past him. Its not even a moving violation so it's just a fine. Get it as dark as you want, just make sure you roll all your windows down and turn your dome lights on before the cop even gets out of the car. They look at it as you're not a complete dick. Thats all most of them care about. Knowing they're not walking up to a gun pointed at them.

Can you guys post more pics of your cars with tints? Especially huper optik or wincos tint. I want to see how dark it is.
|
I have 5% in the rear and 35% in the front, darkest you can go with being perfectly legal :)
|
<==Limo in the rear and 20% in the front
been pulled over a couple of times :D: but screw it...a sunlight silver w/out tint looks kinda... |

^^ wow 5% is pushing it hahaha, but i bet it looks hott.... yeah everytime i see a cop i roll both my windows down....
|
It was so dark, I had to roll down the windows to back up. And the review mirror became useless. But it was great for road dome!!!
|
^ Pics or it didn't happen. Nah, just kidding. We don't need to see that.
But I'd like to see more photos of people's tint and what % it is. I still need to do mine, because as of right now I'm a sunlight silver owner looking a little :fruit: without tint. |

I have that same problem. At night is the worst I can't tell what or who is behind me while backing up. so worth the look though  |
I got 5% in the rear and 20% up front. Had cops pull up next to my car and say hi to me with my windows up. Never been pulled over at all. Cali is pretty strict tho. But fugg it! Lol

I've had my last ~10 cars or so tinted 35% all around, and 50% front windshield. 50% front is almost invisible, but I do it for the sun protection. Gives you great visibility at night, great sun protection all around, and no issues with LE even in IL/CA. Personally, I don't care for un-even tint degrees front-rear, and limo tint is just not safe at night (tried it once on M Coupe to match black roof, hated it), legal or otherwise. Ceramic tint is lighter than regular metallic.
Here's the RX8 with the above treatment: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/took-couple-pix-today-8-%40-airport-175619/ Here's 35% ceramic on side, seeing through 50% front: http://1stephen1.com/cars/mcoupecsl/images/DSC03698.jpg Here's 35% metallic tint on side, seeing through 50% front: http://1stephen1.com/cars/porsche/images/a3.jpg http://1stephen1.com/cars/supra/Supr...ges/dawg02.jpg http://1stephen1.com/cars/fx45/images/04.jpg |
i had 5 all around and 75 up front on my 8 but it started becoming a pain to drive so i switched to 5 in the back 20 up front and 75 on the windshield and it feels great now

Anyone care to hazard a guess on what I have? The PO did them and said they were illegal in CA, not sure if that's true or not; never been pulled over for them.
Attachment 271701 That's out in sunlight (look at my taillight and rear bumper), so they look lighter than they should. I think they look sick, especially my BLACK rear window, but they're also too dark at night, and my car still gets hot if I leave it outside... worst of both worlds. |
^ I guess 20%
