Question Time for new brakes?

My brakes started squealing the other day. Normally, I wouldn't think nothing of this and just get some new brakes. My concern however, is that I don't even have 5000 miles on the car yet. This seems like pretty low mileage for a set of brakes. Especially since I don't brake hard and I don't ride the brakes either. How long are brakes soposed to last under normal conditions? Advice and opinions please.

squeals could be due to sand or road grit between your pads, they might go away.
I've had slight squeals a month ago and now they're gone

I've had a lot of problems with my brakes..if you take it to the Ocala mazda in FL, they'll tell you nothing is wrong with your brakes and then magically, new rotors will show up on your car, but you won't notice them until you drive all the way home...

Ok..sorry--that was a slight vent..but i hear the brakes have some "issues"

Squealing brakes don't necessarily mean the brakes are shot. Sometimes (as some have found - happened to me too) it's glazed rotors, sometimes its just the nature of the particular pad, or it could also be dust or grit...

If you're brakes don't feel right though or you're concerned then you should have them checked. Doesn't cost anything to be cautious.

I have the squeal come and go. IMHO a couple of hard stops and the squeal goes away. For those with glazed brakes, is this from getting too hot?

Generally, all it takes are a few really, really, really hard stops to clear it up.

not sure. i personally am a light braker but i do remember crunching them once this past winter. that may have caused it.

With such a high end car you think they would put high preformance rotars In my opinion Buy your self some drilled rotars so it will vent the heat alot better be4 anything gets warped beleive youll be much happier.

Yeah, right up until they crack or start chewing up your pads. Most of the cross-drilled rotors you see for sale are just stock rotors that've been drilled... and trust me, the rotors are not designed for this. Even the good ones I'd only recommend for track use.
