so yeah... today i was driving... didnt see a flat tire on the road and i ran over it. i inspected it afterwards and everything seemed fine. No fluids leaking and car felt perfectly normal but i'm hearing this ticking noise from the exhaust after i turn off the car. is this a noise that i just havent noticed? or is this unusual. it sounds as if a marble is rolling around hitting the walls of the pipe. and yeah its not from the engine or anything but i hear it specifically from the exhaust. Thanks and sorry if this was addressed before... i tried searching but didnt find anything on a ticking noise from the exhaust.

 

The ticking probably results from the exhaust cooling down.

 

That's normal, just the hot exhaust cooling down. Pinging rather than ticking.

 

Thermal expansion of metal maybe?

 

How long have you been driving cars? I noticed this long before I ever had a driver's license. It just the exhaust system cooling down. Totally noraml.
