throttle body question

I just left the dealer........complaining of loss power above 6k rpm's//////////////they say I need a entire new throttle body..........anybody had this problem? 2004 rx-8 3k miles.........

no havent seen any throttle body problems at all. i would be surprised if that is really the problem in your case.

why would u be surprised? i lacks power overall,but especially above 6k.......and the "kick" in acceleration........u get is gone...........

What do you mean lacks power above 6,000 rpm? Read the FAQ.

i mean just that....above 6k the power seems to fade.........the nice little kick u get in the high rpm range is non-existence......i have had the m flash......it still seems fast,but i can notice any change.....in performance....

What's the temperature like? Are you using 91+ octane gas? If you're using lower octane and have high ambient air temps in your area, then the knock sensor might be retarding your timing and "slowing you down".

I would be surprised if it was the throttle body- my bet would be burnt coils as well. Another long shot would be a failed S-DAIS actuator valve that is not opening up the tertiary intake ports when you hit 6250- the way the intake is tuned I could see this causing quite a power drop off in the mid 6000 range at WOT.

got the car back........no improvement.........so i am taking it back to the dealer.........still fast but above 6k she seems to fade..........not the kick as before

return the car today........replaced plugs........now she is back to normal foul spark plugs.........so rev your cars to redline as much u can guys....to keep her blowed out......

Can someone tell me how hard it is to get at the plugs? I don't have a shop manual yet.

see not the throttle body they could have just cleaned the plugs but at least now you have a fresh set to foul
