I have an 04' for sell. It's only a 4 cylinder though. She drives great, but I want an rx-8. Has 17" chrome wheels with 2 sets of brand new tires, proffesionally installed H.I.D lighting system (looks amazing), with the sports package. $12999.

I drove an 03 Mazda6 V6 for 2 years. It was decked out with almost every option and beautiful. I did research on midsize sedans for months before I bought it, but the whole time I knew I really wanted the 6. I really don't know how so many consumers could buy a Camry or Accord when they could've bought the Mazda6. And the Duratec V6 they put under the hood is a fantastic engine. I suggest a volcanic red hatchback.

Don't get new....get a very lightly used 2006 Mazda 6. Just like the RX-8, the resale values of the 6 fall quickly due to more popular though not better competition.. Check out cars.com or the craigslist if you want to see.

Go for it. I had an '04 atx 6S sedan and loved it. It drives better than the accord, altima and camary. It's just about even with the acura tsx, but for thousands less.

I helped a friend buy a new car a couple of years ago - she was in the market for something like this. We test drove many cars: Acura TSX, Mazda 6 V6, Volvo S40, etc. In the end, the 6 was definitely the most zippy and fun to drive, but lacked some of the creature comforts. No Nav at the time (not sure if it's available now tho), no dual zone climate control, etc, I ended up recommending that she gets the TSX, which she did and has been very happy with. The 6 was a close 2nd place though.

I drove a 03 Mazda6 V6 for 3+ years. It had every option but wheel locks. I did research on midsize sedans for months. You know the usual suspects, Camry, Accord, Passat, and Sonata. Then one day when I went to test drive some of the cars listed I came across the 6. This was the car I had to have. So I pick up the brochure and brought home to show the wife. The next weekend we took it for a test drive. During the test drive some Jack@$$ cut us off and my wife had to make an evasive maneuver. My wife says SOLD. The 6 may not have the HP of the others in it class but the others don't have what the 6 has. The 6 just does everything well. As for MT or AT, the MT is always better for performence, but there is nothing wrong with the AT.

Wow, i'm shocked we have people telling this guy to buy the 6 in MT. Didn't he already say it wasn't going to happen?
The 6 is a great car for a sedan and the hatch is an awesome option to have in a car of this size. Before I realized I didn't need that much room, I was seriously considering a 6 over all the other sedans.

Wait for the next gen Mazda6, or get a really cheap 2007 Mazda6 at the end of its model year. The next gen Mazda6 could have an AWD option, it'll be more powerful, probably around the same gas mileage as the current V6. And it'll probably look better with better quality. MSRP should remain the same.

My wife and I have owned an '04 6 AT 5-door since new and we like it fine.
Install a used set of RX-8 wheels and that thing will look hot.
