Thinking about getting an extended warranty...

Hey all. I pick up my 8 on Friday... Getting pretty excited

One thing I haven't made up my mind yet is on purchasing the extended warranty. There's "Bumper to Bumper" and "Powertrain". The Powertrain is already 5 years, I was thinking of extending the Bumper to Bumper to 5 as well.

I'm wondering if anyone has purchased the extended warranties, and found they were worth it? Or more importantly, what is NOT covered by the bumper to bumper warranty? I dont mind paying for it, but I don't want any surprises!

If anything, I wouldn't worry about extending the bumper to bumper and would extend the powertrain instead. Your engine and tranny are the two highest cost things to fix/replace and lets face it, a lot of people on here have had one or the other crap out way before 50,000 miles. What year is yours? The '04s are the ones I'd be most worried about. Depends on how long you plan on keeping the car too or how many miles you put on per year.

My extended warranty that I purchased extra, I have an 04, is returnable. I can cancel it anytime and be reimbursed and value of time I have not used. I have not used it yet but am planning to try and have them fix a few small things.
Also getting the warranty without the deductable was only slightly more than getting it with.

It's a good idea, especially for the powertrain. Research the ones offered by private companies, and compare to the dealership one. Most people I have ever met that worked for a dealership say don't get it there. But I've never had one either way.
