it'll help if you let us know what year and trim level you're looking at.

Main thing is to check out if and when the recalls were done. Call up Mazda with the VIN to do this. If the previous owner did the recalls quickly, chances are the car is well maintained. Might be better to get a later 2006, when the most important new flash was done. Other than that, just have it checked over for collision damage and let a rotorhead listen to it or drive it to make sure it's fun to drive.

im thinking about buying kel rx8's rx8. 04 gt loaded. looks like it was very well taken care of, 52000 miles, and nice tasteful mods with custom paint

Do it. I've met him, I know he takes care of his car.

Check recalls, check the idle, Carfax, and test drive... there isn't much else you can do without a compression check on the motor. If the previous owner has the oil change receipts that is always a plus, but not too many owners do I guess.

Make sure to go over any 04's with an extremely fine-toothed comb. 04's were plagued with first-year problems that most of the others didn't experience. TSB's are extremely important to check up on. Don't buy one without doing so.l

I guess I've been lucky to not have any problems with my 04. I've actually been thinking of selling it tho. Let me know if you're interested.
