I had an '04 RX-8, then an '06 Miata and now an '07 RX-8.

The Miata gives you the feeling that you are "wearing" the car. You are so tucked into it (comfortably) and the feedback is so great that it's like you are part of the car. It also is a bit twitchy on expansion joints or hitting bumps while zinging around an exit ramp.

The RX-8 is just so smooth. When I test drove the 07 RX-8 the first thing I thought to myself was that I had forgotten how smooth the car is accelerating and as someone else mentioned, the lack of drama around corners. While the Miata had the feeling of being faster, I am able to drive the RX-8 faster with more confidence.

Just my subjective opinion (other than the faster part because I've checked my speed at a few fun spots - all legal).

I see you already made the switch, so enjoy. The best move would be to have both for different moods, but most of us don't have that luxury.
