Taking a Road Trip

Hey everyone! so this weekend my fiancee and I are driving to Tucson from San Diego for some Halloween parties.. I just got my RX8 and love it soo much, but I dont know if I should take it or take her Focus.. I really want to take mine and show all my friends, but her car gets a lot better gas mileage, and I dont really want to put 1000 miles on my car this weekend ;( what would you guys do?? Probably just take the RX8 and quit being a little whiner, huh??

Depends how much you drive your car. If it's your 2nd vehicle, I say go for it. If it's your primary and you are on a 12,000 mile lease, then take the Focus. Happy Halloween...

If you don't normally put a lot of miles in your car, then you will probably not notice this 1000 mile trip over the long run. So if you run some 15-18K a year, then another 1000K is blah. The road trip is for pleasure anyway, so I say take the RX-8 to maximize the pleasure!

thanks for the replys! it is my primary car, but its not leased.. i bought it used with 29k miles.. I dont drive that much every year, probably only about 6-7k miles because I am in the Coast Guard and am gone for half the year..
I put 15k miles on my last car in 2 years, and I did a lot more driving then than I will now because my Fiancee, well she was just my GF then, lived about 30 miles away and I was driving there every damn day!

so I will probably just end up taking the RX8, its way too nice to just leave sitting around all weekend!

Man, you don't buy a car like that to look at it! Drive it, man! You wanna spend 1000 miles in a **Focus**? Or enjoying your 8! What could make a long potentially tedious drive like that fun more than taking the 8?

I *bought* my 8 to take a 1000 mile road trip (Boston to D.C. and back). TOTALLY enhanced the trip.

Given the milage you do, I'd take the '8 no questions, and have Fun, fun, fun and big smiles all the way

Shucks, I drove mine home 1000 miles when i picked it up. Amazing, it only took me like 6 hours. :P I figured the reason everybody was driving so slow is because they were too busy looking at th 8 instead of driving their own car.

A question that shouldn't need to be asked.

I took a road trip to Hemet Lake with my friends from Irvine, and I can tell you it was the best time I've ever had in my 8. Take a route with some mountain roads if you can!
