I have had Yakima racks for my windsurfing boards. These racks work OK, sort of. When I just installed them they fit tight but over time they slid a little and put some minor scratches. Also, the doors touch the clips and paint gets stripped off at the contact point.

The good thing about Yakima racks is that they come off easily unlike Thule racks (for other cars). RX8 roofline is not really a good fit for any type of rack that is probably why Thule does not make one for RX8. There is too little area to "hook" into.

If I were to do it again I would have probably gotten a small trailer similar to what kayakers use.

I want to surf also but I live a ways from the beach and soft racks arnt the best for highway speeds. There are 2 different solid roof racks on the web site mentioned. http://www.orsracksdirect.com/mazda-...bike-rack.html
Anyone know which is brand best (Yakina, Inno)? Also does anyone know if these go on easy/ come off easy? I have also been lookin to buy a beater but i figured it wouldnt hurt to entertain this idea for a second.

I heard that, I go to school in WV and snowboard in Maryland. I won't sell my board though so I can pretend I still surf a lot

I used to be able to go all over the place on 12+ waves... not so much anymore.

^haha yeah I hear u but I was born and raised in Northwest PA so I know and love snow...so if I had to choose I'd pick snow(and a case of beer....but that counts for beach or snow)....but it's been like 3 years since i've snowboarded.....so we'llll see how I can do! haha....I'm sure it will come back to me
