Question stripped zone different from redline?

On the tachometer what is the difference from striped zone to the actual readline? Is the stripped zone bad to be in?

Its like whats the difference between water and boiling water... (1 degree)

So the difference in the striped zone and the red zone is 1rpm.

Its not like your car automatically blows up at redline, but its there to help prevent stress on other components such as the transmission.

RX-8 Redline = 9000 RPM

Striped zone starts at 8500 RPM and starts to beep to tell you to shift soon. Pontiacs actually have a yellow "striped" zone as well on some of their cars. Same thing there.

Don't you find that Beep really irritating after a while? Then again I love scaring my passengers with it, cuz they think my car is ready to detonate. LOL

No...not really...I rather enjoy it...kinda wish I could make it louder...I'm sure I could if I messed with it...

but if I go into the dash to mess with it...I'll end up changing it out entirely...maybe replace it with a Jena Jameson Moaning sound, "oh god", "YES YES YES", or something...
