when driving an rx-8 6speed, is it bad to shift gears at the redline over and over with the rotary?

As with any engine, the harder you drive it, untimately the shorter the life you may get out of engine. Car can certainly handle redline, but try doing it every time in first and second, and you may find yourself needing a rebuild at 60-70k We all can't shift it at 9k everytime anyway, so doing it on occasion is fine. If you plan on trading it in before warranty ends, hell do it everytime, just keep checking oil and have your gas card on hand at all times.

Yeah what viking said, check back on the red line everyday people in 3 years/40k miles... who knows until this car has been out for a while really, lots of good educated conjecture however.
