Stp octane booster...should i use on a regular basis?
Would it be wise to use this product every fill up in a 2004 rx8 with 55'000klms on it?...the car runs great...but would this help it run cleaner and keep it running well?...or is it a waste of money?...The product says to use every fillup...

if you're just daily driving the 8, Octane booster is a waste of $$$

Organic chemistry was decades ago for me, but here's what's in my memory:
Octane is a hydrocarbon in the alkane series. The alkanes are, in order, methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, hexane, heptane, octane, nonane, decane...etc. Octane has 8 hydrogen atoms in the chain, thus oct -ane. Methane is a single hydrogen atom with 4 carbons, forming the molecule. See how the nomenclature is applied?
The primary purpose of octane in gasoline is to prevent pre-ignition, or "knocking". If your engine has pre-ignition with regular gas, you need a higher octane grade. If you don't have pre-ignition, you don't.
My wife's Subaru runs happily all day long on regular. My Explorer has to have at least 88 octane or it knocks badly under hard accelleration or load. I put premium in my RX-8 because the manufacturer tells me to.
What's interesting is that sometimes 2 identical engines can react differently to the same fuel. One may knock wickedly on regular while it's twin doesn't.

I did master, which is why I said it supposedly is good for your engine
I personally read and put 1 STP fuel cleaner into my tank, i didn't notice any improvement in MPG or what ever, and my car runs very strong in the first place, so didn't see any diff in performance either
but from what I have read, I can conclude that it supposedly does do the engine good, and it probably does
this time I did search ^^
I'm learnin

Most octane boosters do also clean injectors. I buy it every now and then, and I can tell you personally that I do have a smoother idle with it, but that could just be my 8. These cars are a little quirky. Do what works for you.

Don't do it.
See if you can find a copy of Andy Granatelli's book "They call me Mr. 500." After you read it, ask yourself if you would want to buy and use any STP product.
Great man, wonderful story, but all the products are snake oil.

none of those octane boosters actually work, I dont remember where but I read an artical where they tested and they BARELY got any difference with and without the booster, feel free to waste your money but I havent/wont ever do it.
