starting to get the RX8 blues

My car has been stored since mid- October and won't be taken out until mid-April, winter in northern Ontario tends to be long. Reading this forum every day is getting to me, I need to drive my RX8, boy do I ever miss driving it. My odyssey van or tacoma 4x4 truck just don't give me the driving sensation as my RX8. I envy everyone that drive their cars all year long. It would be nice to have an early spring for once.

It is definitely tough I'm sure. It probably never thaws up there throughout the whole winter does it? Down here in Detroit, I at least seem to get my car out a couple times a month when the roads are dry enough. Hang in there, you'll be alright. At least you will appreciate every mile (or kilometer) you get.

Yes, I get to visit her since she is sitting in my garage, I've got a tarp over it but get to sit in it once in a while. I try not to look at it too often because it drives me nuts not being able to drive it.

Well, with winter tires you can drive the car in winter as long as the roads are not covered in 10cm of snow.

We had quite a winter impact here in southern Germany two weeks ago (50 cm of snow in two days), but I drive the car every day. Typical high power / RWD problems aside, the car as as good during the winter as in the summer.

In northern Ontario there is way too much snow to drive the car even with winter tires, I would be plowing the snow with my bumper. We also get -30 to -40 degrees regularly so it would not be practical. That why I have a 4x4 truck and a van with winter tires and sometimes there is too much snow for the van. We have snow from October to April which don't melt and everytime it snows I'd be plowing the snow with my car. Sorry to say but winter in Montreal doesn't compare to winter here. The roads in town are always snow covered and icy, at least we can drive our snow machines to get around in town. I never see pavement until spring sets in. Plus they put sand on the roads and if I would take it on the highway I might get stone chips. I have to wait for a good rain in April to wash the highway before I take it out. That really sucks but nobody will have as big a smile on their face as I will when I take it out in April.

I had mine parked for a month or so while the snow was bad. I thought I was going to go nuts. But we haven't had much snow for a while now, and once the side streets were clear enough, I was back in the saddle. I'm hoping that I don't have to park it again this season. I think that we have seen the worst of winter now. But I may have just jinxed myself.
