Sports Car or Sedan

It seems to me that the car feels differently depending on how I have my seat positioned. Do any of you experience this?

For me, the car feels like a sedan when it is at its highest setting. It feels more sporty when I have it set on the lowest setting. It can't be more than two inches difference, but it seems to make a lot of difference. Maybe this is due to my height. I am 5'4", so the taller people might not notice too much difference when they adjust there seats.

I'm 5'4 and I can't drive it when I have it set very much lower than the top. It just always feels like a sports car to me. How do you manage to see over the dash when it's at its lowest?

I keep the steering wheel low and I sit almost straight up.

I'm 5'2" and I keep it on the lowest setting. I got tired of switching it back and forth from when my 6'1" hubby drove it (manual seats). Sports car, baby!

Do I really own a sports car?

I must insist that the RX8 is a sports car. I already have a 4 door sedan. But the RX8 feelslike a Coupe, because the B-pillar is not next to you in the driver's seat.

That is one of Mazda's amazing accomplishments with this car. Despite the 4 doors, the back seat and the weight, I have not found anyone who has ever driven the car, in or out of this forum, contend its not a sports car.

In reference to your question, I'm 5'7" and I have tried every seat position possible. None of them made it feel like a sedan.

The RX-8 in no way ever feels like a floaty sedan. Everytime I get back into my 8 after driving some SUV or normal sedan, it's like breathing a huge sigh of relief. The RX-8 just fits like a glove, and the way I can just toss it arounds turns without a care is not something I can do with sedans/SUVs. As I always like to say, "where they brake, I can keep on accelerating".

Maybe I shouldn't have used the word sedan... Heh. I just know it feels like 2 different cars when I change the seating position. I think by Sedan I mean it feels higher and not low.

I'm also 5'4" (lots of 5'4" owners here!) and have my seat around middle height. I've found that at this setting it is comfortable to see outside and push the pedals.

And every corner yells "sports car!!" when you appoach it.

Well said ... we have a awd SUV and an awd Sedan ( an upgrade from my beloved '95 Millenia S).... Driving the 8 is such fun ... It changes a long commute into a fun drive. :D
