Sport Exhaust

Any of you guys own this option??

We are told in the UK that the sport exhaust could actually add some power? Anybody have any experience in this?

Some UK dealers are suggesting more power, but will then um and ah about not being given any figures.

I personally think its just a slightly different rear box, that will let a bit more noise out, but any gain in power will be negiliable.

Cheers

Wait a sec - are you talking about the shiny inserts that go around the exhaust cut-outs on the bumper? I saw those in the parts catalog and considered them (as well as the front/rear flaps). Wouldn't affect power, but they seem a little sporty.

No, this is a whole new system with one less box and larger bore, UK cost £450.

Somewhere else on this forum, someone mentioned the Mazdaspeed exhaust doesn't increase HP at all whereas the Borla exhaust gives a 10 HP increase above 6000 rpm for much cheaper.

I wonder if the UK sport exhaust is actually the Mazdaspeed exhaust or something like it. If so, the Borla might be a cheaper and better option.

By the way, I know absolutely nothing about aftermarket products and have driven only 100% stock cars in my life. I read about the above either in the "Vendors" or "Mazdaspeed/Aftermarket Performance" forums.

I think Mazdaspeed's exhaust increased 5hp

That's from a Japanese "Bestmotoring Video"

My local (UK) dealer suggested it may increase power a little but no figures either. He thought it was the Mazdaspeed system that you guys are talking about.

The Borla Back-Cat system is £409.50 + VAT (£481.16) which is actually a little more expensive than Mazda's offering, but if you guys are happy with it (and it 'flames'!) that'll do me.

The quote I had was from usauto@usauto.co.uk who appear to be Borla's distributer in the UK.
