My vote is for the spoiler. I think it adds a nice sporty touch to the car.

I think the stock spoiler makes the car look cheap. Go for mazdaspeed if your going to get one.

I think I like the European spoiler better... it's more understated:

Rear Lip Spoiler

2. The spoiler adds to the weight of the car, which will reduce both gas milage and tire life.
not as much as you would think but a good point.

3. The spoiler increases downforce on the rear of the car, which will also reduce gas milage and tire life.
no it doesn't. a wing would at race speeds but the spoile if it is working correctly will actually increas gas mileage slightly by reducing drag.

4. I don't like the way they look.
i didn't either but it grew on me looking at a freinds car. and since it didn't seem like we were ever going to get the UK spoiler and since it was free...

5. I'll probably never have the car going fast enough where a spoiler is truly necessary. It's a commuter/everyday car for me, I have no plan on ever racing it or getting it much faster than 100 MPH.

4 & 5 are obviously very personal reasons, and for somebody who plans on using the car differently from me, or who just likes the way it looks, the spoiler might make sense.
for my answer on 5 see my answer on 3

it defintly chages teh look of the car i suggest trying to find 2 cars in the color you are getting- one with spoiler and one without try tp put them side by side. that should help your decision.

I was like 60/40 on the spoiler...I like it more that I have it now, before I was'nt lookin for it just more interested in the color. If you get the app.pack you might consider the spoiler more...Sin

It's standard in England, I think. I don't think it's available here through regular channels, but you might try Trussville or Rosenthal Mazda to be sure - check out the vendors sections. I'm sure somebody is going to offer it eventually.
