Speed 3 vs Speed 6
It's finally time, I'm going to trade in my 8 for either a Speed 3 or Speed 6.
I originally had an 04 6s, and moved up to an 8 for a little more speed and a lot more handling. The 6 was not at all dissapointing as I had done springs, sways (F+R), intake, etc. It was a fun car, but it was pretty much topped out to a reasonable limit. Sure there were a few other things I could do to it, but I started to get into deminishing returns.
I've hit that point again with the 8. I've done the minor bolt-ons, and pretty much maxed out. Yes, there are turbo and S/C kits, but I'm not about to sink in 8K for more power. I again need something with a little more power and more realistic bolt-on potential.
Obviously, the MS3 and MS6 share the same powertrain. Obviously the MS3 will weigh less than the MS6, but the MS6 with AWD will put the power down easier, which is why it's a little faster out of the box. Both have pretty decent bolt-on potential (both power and handling).
I can get the MS6 that I want about $1500 less than the MS3 that I want.
What do you think?

i prefer the looks of the speed 6 over the speed 3, but if it were me i'd get the 3 - i love the room you get with a hatchback. it's like an suv when you fold the back seats down. if that's not an issue at all, i'd go 6. you're right about the awd, it'd suck to go back to a front wd, so maybe the 6 would be better for you.

I just shat myself
I don't know man, why even stay with Mazda if you're really looking to upgrade?
You could get something like a Supra, or a Z06, maybe even a Mitsu 3000GT VR4..
The 3 and 6 just seem too much like an econobox, family cars, even with the upgrades...

I fold down the seats for other reasons.... . but it depends on the driver i ran up on a old man in a MS3 he knew how to drive it to but i still got him over all, hell any car you will eventually reach a feeling that its maxed out for you, you get the thrill from the start and then there are bolt ons that just give you a little more. do what you feel is right but i know all of us would love to have a MS8 but seeing that i cant go for the MS6 more room if you plan on keeping it for a while

.......neither the MS 3 or 6 is much faster than a modded 8. If the MS3 look is appealing to you then you might as well just get an Evo or Sti (04-06 models). They all look like grocery getters, you might as well have the fastest one.
True, boosting the 8 is not cheap, but who said owning/maintaining one of the most unique production vehicles in the world was going to be cheap?
