Spark plugs for CHEAP!

Ok, I searched around for about an hour, and couldn't find ANY information on getting the OE Iridium plugs for cheaper than the $52 Mazda, Racing Beat, and Mazdatrix charge!

So I found some! Advance Auto Parts!

I use the rx7 plugs. ~$7 each.

thats still too expensive

you can get em from www.sparkplugs.com at 20 each, or you can get upgraded iridium plugs for something like 35.50 each.

they don't last as long. they'll burn out in half the time of the stocks, but unless you can get stock plugs for $14 or less, it is worth it.

I know they can be found cheaper elsewhere.. (rx7store.net, rx7.com) it's just that..theres an Advance Auto around every corner Worth while to know!

I thought the stock plugs which are the ones for 20 where iridium plugs?

Wha? Those show the Iridium's being 35.50, what are you talking about $20?

The stock plugs are Iridium.

i apologize, they do have an iridium electrode. but that price is still too high for the plugs.

the stock spark plugs are part number RE7CL for the leading and RE9BT for the trailing. they are an NGK plug, platinum series. these are the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) plugs, which are the same exact plugs that if you went to mazda and purchased them, would cost 70 to 80 a plug.

Stay away from the Densos. I tried a set in my car, and it ran a bit rougher. Switched back to the NGK's and the coarseness went away.

How much life are you guys squeezing from your stock plugs?

just wondered when to expect another purchase.

What upgraded Iridium plugs ? Stock plugs ARE Iridium, NGK Premium Series Plugs, got myself a set of them 2 weeks ago.





I got all 4 80 bucks shipped. Not too bad of a deal.

They're nowhere near *cheap* thats freaking expensive.

I got them 80 bucks shipped, all 4. If I dig deeper I can probably find something a bit lower, but oh well I was a bit lazy.

Expect about 20K miles of *trouble free* driving. If your car had older flahes like 04 and some early 05s. I suggest you to change it to something else (Rx7 or stock 8 plugs) as early as 15K.

Dealer changed my plugs about a year ago for TSB, not sure if its all 4 or just leading, forgot to ask. Im just going to change it all myself tomorrow(I hope)

So, if I go with the rx-7 type spark plugs, for my change in about 5k miles, I will need to replace those every 10k miles instead of the stock ones at 20k?

You should be able to do 30k on the stock plugs. 15k range for the rx7's.

^concurs

had my plugs replaced around 30k as part of the reflash recall/battery-starter TSB, car still runs fine at 50k, probably will wait til 60k to get new set

Sounds good, I figure at about 25k miles I am going to get new tires, new plugs, and probably a new intake.
