Sound

Hi people.

As a rotary virgin (!) I'm interested to know how these engines sound. I hear that revs are going to be key for the RX-8. I have no problem with that so long as it sounds sweet.

Perhaps the people that have rx-7's or the few that have driven an rx-8 could answer.

I've read various comments from "jet engine for a car" to "washing machine on spin"...!

Is it going to sound anything like a turbo ? The reason I ask is that I had a nissan 200sx and the turbo whine on that was great. Many Thanks.

tons of rotary movies here:

www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/movies/index.html

also, use the Search button to look through all of the Multimedia Section threads for videos (or other links to videos) with the RX-8 in them... there are tons of threads around about this, and exhaust sound in general (a recent one in the Lounge Section).

welcome.

btw, no this engine won't sound like it has a turbo, because it doesn't have one.

Cool

There is nothing like the smooth sound of a rotary. It is one of the best engines sounds out there, and frankly it makes me melt like butter under the hood.

Ha!

Wow! That was cool.

Reminds me a 1995 spring trip that I took down a canyon road in Colorado... in my '84 RX-7... following two brand new Corvettes. They couldn't lose me! I bet that they wanted their money back!
