Some last minute cold feet... GT or 40th?
I was just wondering what everyone thought about me going with a 40th AE instead of the last Velocity Red GT 6speed in California.. I can get a fully loaded AE with the same basic equipment as the VR. There seems to be a bunch of the 40thAE's out there and they are all equipped package wise similar ( but not exactly like) the VR one I am looking at. About the only thing that is a must is the appearance package and rear wing ( yeah I know Im vain)
the 40th is quite appealing with the bilsteins, foam filled cross member, cool interior.. Color is eh.. kinda like it, doesn't really stand out ( which could be good)
Anything that really makes it the one to get? On some of them I can get an AE for 2K less than the VR one..
Just some last minute checking in thats all. Trying to maximize my money and Im not getting wishy washy.. so don't worry there..
Any big 40th AE fans out there and why? or why not?
Thanks as usual for being such a great group to talk with..

Go with the GT if you're not totally in love with the 40th. Performance wise, they're essentially exactly the same, so go with what you think looks the best.

I own a 40th and I have recieved lots of positive feedback on it. I also have not come across another one on the road but I live in Chicago not Cali. I also agree with the others on go with what grabs you the most cause the car is basically the same. They only made 1,000 anniversary models but we're talking about a car that you don't come across very often. At least where i'm at. Good Luck and enjoy!!

They were only suppose to make 200.....and we now have three locally in our area, that I know of. The 40th AE, does have the bilsteins, which the other doesn't. Drive the two side by side and choose from there.

You are correct as usual Laura, the 09's have the the urethane foam filled cross member and an upgraded suspension.
I would pick the 40 AE over the GT because of the all red interior just like the s2000's But that is just my opinion.
Here's the s2000
Heres the 40th 8

I like the s2000, the 40th meh, not so much. Just my taste.
Question off topic AJ, ( sorry in advance OP).
Have you considered dropping your car? Am thinking it might be better just to drop her on springs instead of coilovers. With the bilstein setup, I don't want to risk the comfort. Gotta love that ride!

I bought my 40th (In California) last month. I don't regret it one bit.
The metro gray changes color in different light. It sometimes looks bluish or greenish. It is not just a dark grey with metal flake. The off-red interior is very classy, and I have had nothing but compliments.
For me it was a no brainer. I like the 40th color combo the best. If you like the VR better, then go for that. Get the car you want, and don't settle for less than exactly what you want.

Also, if you have not seen them yet, be sure to look at both exterior colors in direct sunlight. When properly waxed the flake is simply amazing. Of course I'm a bit biased towards the VR. I am constantly asked at auto shows if I repainted the car because they are in disbelief it's OEM. Note sure about the 40th paint, but I do know VR is a triple stage coat which gives it such an awesome pearl effect.

why are you posting threads upon threads about what car, what model what colour to get? Be a man and make a decision that is yours not from a committee let alone from strangers. Yeesh!
