How is OTD meaningless? That is what you will pay to drive the car off the lot. IMO that is the most meaningful figure you can state.

(I traded in an Acrua RSXS for the RX8...two dealers offered me the edmunds "Trade in" price...the third had had one in earlier that year and moved quick. They offered almost the "Private Party" price for the car...they knew they'd move it quick at a good price!!!!!0

2) You want a mustang...they have sTeep incentives and are sold by a horrid company. They need to make money, and lots of it. So they are trying to burn you on your RX8. Dealers always low ball a trade, but when buying cars with special offers(like your 72mo 0% financing), high incentives, or low margins...they rape extra hard. I'd imaging they try to rape hard when buying a mustang.
I didn't have to try another dealer because I was at a Ford dealer......they don't want Mazdas on their lot. They called every Mazda dealer in the area trying to get the best price for my trade-in. No dealer wants used RX8's on their lot....so they are only going to offer what they expect to get at auction. As far as your story about your trade-in for the RSX, they probably rolled the difference into your RSX price. Dealers play this game all the time......they pay 'book value' for your trade-in and tack the loss on to your new car into some hidden fees. BTW, what was the actual trade-in price you got for your RX8? What did you pay for the RSX?

It was national promotion.....but only for a couple of weeks leading into Labor Day.....the offer ended Sept 5th. It was not offered with any other cash back incentives because 0% for 72-months is already an incredible deal......especially with rising interest rates. I figure I saved myself $2K in interest with current rates of 7%. Plus I got A-Plan which takes a few grand off the total.

Wish I would have known about that QHA thing though

This question keeps popping up, but I haven't seen an answer. Anyone?

Someone answered a couple pages back that they were able to negotiate with Dodge. No one responded about MAC.

They gave me an extra 1k for my trade in over average actuion price and they took $100 off my doc fees...cool huh?

Usually they are $1100, they charged me only $1000 in doc fees.

You think $1000 is good for doc fees?

No, it was a bit of sarcasm aimed at out hillbilly friend.

My point was that different dealers might not auction an 8. Hence you might get a better trade. My other point was that companies that suck at making money have to rape you on a trade. Ford sucks, and it's dealers suck more.

I got a great deal on my RX8, but somehow i can't offer friendly advice to someone who can't seems to deal his way out of a paper bag...72mo loan, HAHAHA...tons of negative equity on his 8, hahaha...trading an 8 for a mustang, hahaha. Forget i said anything. One so lost clearly wouldn't be able to heed direction, even if offered.

Good luck man...and watch those doc fees, and hidden charges, they KILLED me, hahahahaha.

"hey, i've had a car for a year, and it's hard to get my equity back" Christ, that's a mystery.

They just got a retired leaser at Valley Mazda - 04, cherry red, really nice, everything but NAV system (no spoiler) they will have it on the market for about 20K - runs very good - tell them maybe there was front end work and they might knock the price down more - I just wish I had the blue paid for, I would like to add this one to my collection!

You are an idiot and your last post proves it. Learn to read and you might have seen that I lost only $719 on my lease by selling the RX8 to a private party for $25K. Also, 0% for 72-months is free money jackass. I can invest the savings into interest earning accounts. BTW, don't have performance envy of my Mustang......the RX8 isn't that slow

Also, there are no doc fees for domestic products....only imported ones. If you really think you did not pay a doc fee for either of your imported cars then you are dumber than I thought.....or you bought both used. The fact that you refuse to state the actual prices you received on your trade-in and your RSX purchase shows that you are the one who can't deal his way out of a paper bag.

This is getting rather personal... and that DOES break forum rules.

Not necessary true, certain domestic car dealers have learned the doc fee game and are playing it. Before you sign the papers, make sure that all the numbers are correct and no hidden costs are added. I have bought imports that did not have a doc fee. It is a dealer dependent fee, not vehicle origin dependent.

Good to know. I have never paid a doc fee for any domestically built cars that I have ever purchased.....so I assumed that was always the case.
