lousy gas mileage, small interior, I finally gave up on this car !!!
The recalls are a non issue. Stuff like the control arm recall only effected a few cars. Mazda is fixing issues and you have a bone with that?

If the interior suddenly became "small", you need to lay off the friggin' bigmacs. The size of your *** is not a faulty design of the car.

Good luck to all you who own this car ! Be prepared to spend alot of money and time at dealership with this car.
I spend a lot of money on the car, but rarely visit the dealer. If the car was as faulty or fragile as you imply, mine would have been long dead. Yet it's running great.

You want to guess where I think the fault lies?

Ive Had This Car For A Year Now And Ive Had No Problems Wit It. In Fact I Love This Car. I Wouldnt Trade It For Anything Else. Its Had 1 Recall But Thats All. I Always Keep It Well Maintained Though. If You Say That Great Handling And High Rev Limit Doesnt Matter For Daily Drivin Then Ur Not Drivin It Right lol.

Only a very small percentage of RX8 owners actually join and post on here.

I just thought I would share my experience with this car. I am sorry if you do not want to hear the bad things, but I am entitled to my opinion, take it or leave it !
First, there are a lot of us who joined before the first one arrived at the Port of Seattle. Second, how interesting that in all this time, you never had the curiosity to log in and snoop around and see what other owners were experiencing, but waited for the day you "sold" the car to tell everyone.

No dice pal. We weren't made with a finger.

You should periodically check the dipstick - and I don't mean the one that is driving.

What really sucks about this is that some poor individual is getting a nice looking car with a lot of problems because some stupid *** didn't take proper care of it before they bought it. I hope they hunt him down and run him and his new honda over.

Saturn I would agree with you except for that oil light comment. I have never had the oil light come on and I bet 99% of the folks have never seen the 8's oil light.

We do rag on folks, but come on! Do some research before putting your money down! Don't just buy a pretty face. I know that is the American Way... but damn.

And small interior? Have ridden cross country in a pony car? The 8 may be snug but very comfortable.

Vince, I have only been here for a few months ('07 Sunlight Silver, purchased BN in March), but I must agree with those who posted to the effect that you chose to ignore a terrific resource by not participating. There are a lot of knowledgable 8 owners here who freely offer meaningful suggestions and can help solve problems- perceived or real.

I haven't had mine long enough to have any problems- only 1900 miles on the car. Also I used to own an '80 RX-7 (limited edition, purchased BN in late '79- I miss that car!) and am very familiar with the care and feeding of the Wankel. I knew what to expect long before I bought my 8. From your descriptions, either you did get a lemon- it happens to every make and model- or you are not maintaining your car adequately. I'm not going to make that judgement here, just wish you good luck and hope that you find a car that suits you.

My problem-free, 18-22 mpg RX-8 suits me just fine.

Doubt OP is even an owner. Certainly not a characteristics of one. Prolly like many others joined the club to find out about the rx8 (like me). Lost interest, bought something else and came back to post stuff like this to get a rise.
An owner of rx8 being an enthusiast car would have already been posting about concerns/problems with the car. It is not a civic after all.

I love these posts. Someone pissed off because they do not want to take the time or effort to understand their car a little. By the way, a recall by definition is an issue known by the company and are required by law to fix it if the owner of the car asks for it to be fixed. What this translates into is a cost to the owner of $0 to have recalls completed. So, how did you spend so much having this car repaired at the dealer? You must have had a corrupt dealer who was just sticking that sucker money into his pocket. 2004 was the first model year for the RX8. Recalls are to be expected. It happens when you develop technology that no one else has on the road.

Check all his posts... he just started posting today. I'm willing to bet that he never owned an 8. I'm a non-active member of many car sites, so I'm sure this clown is from a Z, S2k, Neon, Crossfire (etc) site, just looking to troll the boards.

A friend of mine knows a guy who's sister's former roomate's secound cousin twice removed knew a guy who... Get lost loser.

I am pushing 50,000 miles on my '04. No problems (other than stupid small stuff such as visor, tail light water,...) oh, yes, I average between 18 and 22 mpg. Depending on how traffic is and how many times I have to hear the "beeeeeeeeeep".

Hey, looks like ya got room for a newbi. Just bought RX8GT and can't believe the computer controls on this car! I was addicted to drivng my RX3. It was my only transportation, but I was almost never stranded. when I had some ignition problem I just ran wire direct from battery to coils with switch. Also, made good antitheft. When it leaked water internally I'd just take out plugs, dry them and drive several hundred miles. Maybee that 120 mph run to El Paso built a little heat and warped housings? I've never heard of a piston engine going very far with head gasket leak. The antifreeze in the oil will really play hell with the bearings on cranks. This is a great forum to feed my RX8 addiction!

1. It required a rotary mechanic to change an airbag controller? Took him a week?

2. They make the rotary mechanic work on transmissions? No wonder it took a week.

3. Engine coolant would cause a fatal crash? Not likely. Took them another week?

4. Lower ball joint replacements require a rotary mechanic? No wonder he is overworked.

Your car is not the problem. Your dealer is.

Take care and enjoy whatever you bought to replace your RX-8. You better go ahead and register at that site. You will want a long time account when you get ready to sell your new car and post about how bad it is.

This car reminded me of my pretty college girlfriend. Had good looks, nothing else !

They should make this car available with a regular motor and scrap the rotory !
The rotory is not pratical for everyday use. A friend of mine knows a mechanic
at a Mazda dealer, and he said they are peice of junk !

I really tried with this car, but all the headaches are not worth the good looks, which is really the only thing that you get with this car. It might have high rev limit and handle great, but for everyday driving these things are useless.

Good luck to all you who own this car ! Be prepared to spend alot of money and time at dealership with this car.
Good riddance douchebag.

Piece of junk?

I would definitely take ken-x8's advice and follow the forums on whatever the next car you buy. There is a lot of good FREE advice there that could have potentially save you a lot of hassle. Even if you did have a lemon, the combined experience of "THE FORUM" may have steered you in the right direction a lot sooner.

I wish you more luck with your next vehicle.

P.S. I don't flame on people but wanted to share a thought. Before I bought my 8, I was a member of "The Forum" for nearly 10 months. I didn't hardly post anything but I asked a few questions and read a LOT of posts before I made my final decision on purchasing. Before you get your next car, see if they have a forum and search around for potential problems. That way, there won't be any surprises or disappointment.
