Sold my 8, bought a BMW...

...and I miss the 8.

I have a 2006 BMW 330i Sport 4-door, 6-speed manual. White paint, black leather, real aluminum trim, 18" wheels... The torque is decent, but I have to wind it out to really feel the power. I bought it mainly for the real-life back doors and more grown-up look.

I miss the 8. I miss the sound, the handling, the flip-out nav, the short throws. Cherish your car! Just thought I'd share!

Almost, and I mean very nearly, bought an '06 330i automatic, for the same reason you did.

I backed off at the last minute.

It's a nice car, but for whatever reason, I got a case of the heebee jeebee's when I thought about the maintenance costs, etc. on the BMW.

It's a damn nice car, though! Congrats!

Kevo your M Coupe is sick.

MR2_Spyder, why did you trade your 8 in? Who cares what people think, unless you're a realtor or you have to drive business clients around.

Thanks for the props fellas...its a fun ride!

I can feel MR2 Spyder's pain though. The 8 will spoil you for sure...the handling is to die for. Which is why I searched for months to find a suitable replacement for my 8 before I sold her.

IMHO the ///M and 8 have very similar characteristics in responsiveness...although the ///M can be a bit of a handful at times.

why? when you really get into it the 1 series isnt THAT much cheaper then the 3 series. and a 335i is nice but.... well... its no 8. its more like a nice business car. it is quick but it isolates you

I think it is far too normal for people to have these thoughts when buying a different car, enjoy the car and keep the rubber side down.

Yup. I'm in the same boat. It's now between a 2009 GT RX8, or a 2008 135i. Every time i think I have rationalized and decided on one...Something pulls me toward the other.

Oh well, not a crappy choice to be faced with

Very interesting, and appreciated, perspective. I've often thought I should be in something "more grown up" myself, but then the kid in me prevails.

ps: I did get the 335i brochure in the mail yesterday tho' .......
